Default Hi I'm new and need to lose 32 pounds!

Hi, my name is Stephanie. I'm 21 and married with two kids. I was 184 back in late April. I'm now at 162 and want to get down to 130 pounds. I've been exercising at the gym 5 days a week. 3 days are for a combo of strength training and cardio. The other two days I do spinning, running up stairs, and pilates.
Anyway, I'd love to have a serious buddy. I seem to do fine with the exercising part, not so good on the eating.

Monday-
I worked out for an hour with cardio and strength training.
b: toast w/ tsp peanut butter and c. green tea

l: chicken noodle soup w/5 saltines
2 handfuls of cereal
about 20 cookies

d: pork tenderloin w/ corn and beans and bottle of water and grape soda

Yesterday was pretty bad! I don't usually eat like that, but I'm having a hard time staying on the diet my trainer recommended.

Tuesday-

Back on my diet.

b: toast w/ tsp peanut butter and c. green tea

l: 1/2 c. tuna w/ piece of cheddar cheese and c. green tea

d: Will be two slices of turkey
c. carrots
c. green beans
c. vanilla ice cream
1 small apple

Today I'm doing spinning for an hour and will also run up and down the stairs hopefully 10 times.

Hi Stephanie,

That is so great that you have already lost 22 lbs - keep up the good work girl! You are almost half way there

I now weigh what you did at your starting weight and it's a bit overwhelming when you begin, but I am more motivated than I've ever been in my life!

I am 25 and also married with 1 baby boy who's a year and a half. Just curious.....how do you find the time to get to the gym so often? I work out, but I do it at home when the baby is napping....I usually do Tae Bo cardio video 5 X per week and I walk 3 miles almost every weekday morning with my neighbor (with baby in the stroller).

Did you come up with your own eating plan? I eat healthy and I am just counting calories and trying to learn the right portions to eat since my tendency is to overeat. It doesn't sound like you are eating enough from what I saw on your food diary today, especially since you exercise so often. Just be careful with that because if you don't eat enough your body will think it's starving and it will actually slow your metabolism down and hang onto fat.

I'd love to keep in touch...
Melanie

Hi Mel!
My gym has a nursery. The nursery is only able to watch them for two hours but I'm usually finished within an hour or hour and a half.
I just can't seem to do workouts at home. I'm just not motivated and I feel lazy if I don't go to the gym. I started working out with my trainer in the middle of May. Before May I didn't lose much at all. But, once I started working with Aileen I've had the weight drop! She's been amazing. And she gave me this diet plan to do. Yesterday was the first day of the diet. I've been doing okay with the food. Its just when we're out on the weekends its hard to stick to the diet.

Today/Wednesday-

b: hard boiled egg, toast, c. green tea, and 1/2 banana

l: 1/2 c. tuna- no mayo! With 5 saltines

d: 2 hotdogs
1/2 c. carrots
1 c. broccoli
1/2 banana
1/2 c. vanilla ice cream

Meeting the trainer today. We'll most likely be working out for an hour with cardio/strength training.
** Well, we ended up just talking today about nutrition. We did a couple weights. So I'll consider this an off day and just work out on Saturday to make up.***

Oh, my gym has a tae bo class. I did it once and felt really dumb trying to catch up with everybody. Can anyone recommend a good beginnner's video to try?

Hello Again Stephanie!

That's so wonderful your trainer has been helping you out with losing weight! Did your trainer tell you how many calories you should be eating per day? It just seems like you are not eating enough? Do you eat snacks too?

Most Tae Bo video sets that you buy comes with an instructional video that teaches you all the basic moves so you aren't totally lost. But I usually do the Tae Bo cardio video (from 2003) which is a single video. Here's the link to the tae bo store with all his videos/sets available;

http://www.billyblanks.com/store_main.asp?Section=Store

Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the link Mel! No, I don't eat any snacks. I try and do this everyday except for Saturday and Sunday. My trainer thinks I'll be at my goal weight by middle September. Then once I'm off my diet then I'll just be maintaining my weight. She said I'll need 1300 calories a day.

You're doing great - keep it up Are you a big fan of saltines?

I just finished my exercise - I did the treadmill for 38 minutes and burned 400 calories - woo hoo! Although, Tae Bo burns double that in the same amount of time......so, tomorrow it's Tae Bo again!

Breakfast; 2 eggs, 1 piece whole wheat toast w/ 1 tbsp LF cream cheese (250 calories)

The rest to follow later.....

Hey Ladies

Stephanie - That's awesome you are going to get Tae Bo cardio from netflix, such a great workout! I was only teasing you about the saltine thing - hope I didn't offend you.......it's hard to know how people mean things when it's typed out.

Rachel - You go girl! You walked and did Tae Bo - you rock! I just have to tell you that I found a website that's been helping me to find out how many calories my workouts are burning.....well, the owner of the site started a post in his forum about how he ran into Billy Blanks (Tae Bo creator) and asked him how many caloreis his workouts burn and later the Tae Bo staff emailed him the info, so this website actually has the correct calories burned doing Tae Bo (most sites are off because they aren't getting their info from the source). At my weight, height & age I burn 850 calories for a intermediate Tae Bo workout for 40 minutes. That is way more than a regular aerobics class or running even!

Here's the site, if either of you are interested!
http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html
P.S. You have to scroll down a tad till you see the "calories burned" calculator

Hey Mel
Thanks for the info. Quick question, on that site. Do you put in Tae Bo-very vigerous or just vigerous? I put in Very vigerous and the total burned was 908. The workout dvd I have is for 46 minutes. Plus all my info. Does that sound right, it seems like alot?
