  • This weeks challenge involves fruits and vegetables!! Whether it is leafy greens or citrus oranges, this week we'll focus on working them all into our daily diet! Set your own personal challenge--perhaps you will choose to:

*Up your daily intake of fruits &/or veggies
*Choose fruits or veggies over a usual snack
*Eat at least one fruit &/or veggie with every snack &/or meal
*Introduce a new fruit or vegetable into your life

These are just a few suggestions. What do you want to do this week?

  • I'm in. Great challenge! I will eat at least 6 servings of fruits/vegetables daily. I have a much more difficult time with the veggies, so I will have at least 3 of those servings as the vegetables. I know I should eat more, but I figure this is a start. I am going to try and be truly aware of what I'm ingesting this week. I will be a mindful eater!!! (is mindful even a word? if not it should be, I like it.)
  • I do pretty good with veggies but not with fruits. My goal is to eat at least 5 servings of veggies daily and at least 2 servings of fruit. That's not much fruit I know but I don't usually even eat that much. I will try to choose fruity snacks instead of others.
  • melissa, this is a great challenge. i can do this!!!! okay, i like your goal. i'll go for 5 veggies and 3 fruits (at least with each) per day. by eating these fruits maybe i can do better on snack choice.

    okay, let's do it!!!!
  • Great Challenge!!!

I know I "try" but don't get enough in. I have at least one big salad a day.....but the total of 6 fruits and veggies is a good one!

I think I need to go to the grocery store!!
  • Melissa, I'll eat your fruit if you eat my veggies! Hmmmm. I have to think on this one. I have to go now but I'll come back and commit later this afternoon.
  • Yes, "mindful" is a word, and it's a good one.

My fruit/veggie goal is to first choose a fruit or veggie snack when I'm hungry instead of reaching for whatever's there.

  • I love both fruits and veggies - but it never hurts to monitor and make sure we are getting enuf!

I am committing to at least 3 veggies and 3 fruits per day - and maybe additionally trying at least one new fruit or veggie each week? Or eating a fruit or veggies I only eat occassionally (e.g. mango, papaya, eggplant, etc).

    Today: banana w/breakfast
    peas w/lunch
onions/mushrooms/carrots w/dinner (may add brocolli cuz these are just additions to a sauce)
    apple for snack
    fruit at meeting tonight!

    Happy munching!

  • No fruit for me, but I'll try to eat plenty of vegetables.
  • For me....

    Banana w/breakfast
Cabbage, cauli and broccoli at lunch (in a couple salads I am having)
Probably an apple for a snack....

    That's it so far....
  • I'll have 3 fruits and 3 veggies every day. I guess I better go get clarification on what a serving is, especially for salad. I always eat huge ones.
  • I think that today I had 1 svg. of fruit and maybe 2 svgs. of veggies. I didn't eat much today (except for dinner binge).
  • Hey what happened to you chicks? I'm gone for a couple of days and the fruit and veggie challenge is left in the dust?
    Get in line ladies!

  • OK, well since everyone is MIA I will update you on my end of the challenge...

I've eaten three veggies and two fruits everyday this week!

OK, OK, I didn't!! I did choose an apple for a snack yesterday though. With the way I have been feeling this week I honestly just forgot all about this challenge. I will try to do better for the rest of the week.

Do you guys want another challenge on Sunday? Or no? If so, what?
  • i haven't kept an exact count, but i think i've done well. i've been eating a ton of fruit in my fruit salad every day and i've had veggies, too. tonight i had the 5 can soup. lots of veggies there. i haven't been perfect with this but i've done all right.

we wi in the am. i hope my "bad choice" day doesn't cause too much damage. it it does, then i deserve it.
