  • Hi everybody!

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. My name is Kim, I'm 25, and I live in Chicago. I've been doing weight watchers off and on for awhile now, but have finally buckled down and am getting serious about it. I'm looking forward to chatting with you all - I'm hopeful that some of you are facing the same challenges I am in regards to weight loss (mainly going out to eat pretty often and liking to have a drink or twenty on the weekends) and we can support each other.

    Take care,
    Kim
  • Welcome Kim and congrats on 24 lbs. lost already - what an accomplishment!
  • Me too!
Hi Kim! I am also knew to this web site. I am not even sure how I found it! I rejoined Weight Watchers in October (my second time around) and have lost 16 pounds. Should have been more but for the holidays........ Last time I joined I lost a total of 22 pounds and kind of lost interest and motivation. I fear that I may do that again. I had just hit my 10% lost 22 pounds went from 221 to 199 and quit! I am not sure why, it was working. Well anyhow, I gained all of it back plus 4 more, today i way 209 and would like to lose 60 more. The plan works great as long as I stick to it, I hope this site will help keep me motivated, I don't want to start again in a year....I would like to be at my goal this time next year. Good luck to you, Carol
  • Welcome Carol!
  • Thank You
Thanks for the welcom Jenicra! How did you lose so much? Jenny Craig I would guess....When did you begin? How do you stay motivated? Thanks for any tips you can share. Carol
  • Hi Kim and Carol! welcome!! i'm sure we'll get to know each other really well!!
  • Hi I'm new here, so I guess I should put my name in here!

My name's Diane nad I'm a junior in college right now, with goals of losing all this college weight I've gained while sitting aroudn doing all my engineering work!
  • Carol - I lost all of the weight (and am continuing to do so) by counting calories. My basic goal is more calories out than in. I am trying to stick to 1300-1500 cals./day and exercise at least 5 days per week, usually about an hour a day. I started trying to lose weight without too much knowledge of how to do it in July of 2003, and lost 15 lbs. between then and November 2003, when I joined here and starting making much more informed fitness and nutritional decisions.
  • Diane, Carol and Kim, welcome! I look forward to getting to know you all.

Diane, I too put on about 40 lbs doing my engineering degree! what sort of egnineering are you studying?

    Take care
    Tiffany
  • I also put on weight doing an engineering degree. Yay for lady engineers!
  • HA HA HA yep.. cos just like in engineering with the drinking and the eating I know I tried to keep up and even beat the boys.. pity I didn't do the same with the exercising part...
  • Hey Ya'll! Thanks for the welcome NBK. I can understand gaining weight while in school. I am no longer a student. I am 40 years old but went to college for a couple of years and couldn't study without eating. I don't know what it was but every time I did homework I wanted to eat at the same time! You know finger foods like chips or candy. If I went much longer who knows how much weight I would have put on! You younger girls are smart to change your eating habits now before you get really big. I really didn't have a major weight problem until a couple of years ago. I don't know what happened.... I went on Atkins to lose about 20 pounds and I lost it but afterwards I resumed my old eating habits (lots of carbs) and gained it all back very quickly plus another 40 or so. I think that diet screwed up my metabolism and my portion control. I also craved sweets like never before. I don't know exactly what happened, it also could have been the extra stress in my life....promotion to management, alcoholic husband...I am not sure probably a combo of both. Well I got rid of him well over a year ago so now I need to get rid of this weight! Talk to ya'll soon.
  • Oh yeah....Thanks and hello to you to TannyMc!
  • Ooops! I just realized this is a thread for 20 somethings. Sorry guys didn't mean to invade your territory. I will talk to you on other forums.........
  • Wow....look at all these engineering girls! I'm studying Materials Science and engineering ~ really small department! I;m hoping it will bee easier to find tome to work out since I;m taking a couple less credits. I think this semester I;m goign to try to set aside a time 5 dyas a week that I will always go to the gym?

Does that work for most of you all?

I'm at home till tomorrow so today I'm just going to do a work out video and abs and push-ups in the good old family room.

Where did you all go to school?
