    Berry Scone
    Fried rice and vegetables
    2 Egg rolls

Times are changing. More and more people are suing for every little thing. I guess they are just trying to be safe for everyone. Our buses had snow chains too, but when it got slippery out in the mountains, then school was cancelled.

How are the wedding plans working out? Next month will be here soon.

Hope you have a fantastic St. Patrick's day. Looks like you will have a festive meal.

Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013
    Keep It Moving

The dangers of sitting too much may drill all the way down to your DNA.
Australian researches sampled thigh muscle from people who sat constantly
and those who took two-minute waling breaks every 20 minutes.
The latter group showed positive changes in 75 genes,
including ones involved with new muscle growth and the destruction of free radicals.
Sneak in standing breaks while you drink water or talk on the phone.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. shoveling snow
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    fried egg sandwich
    graham cracker
    chinese stirfry, canned pears

The wedding plans are going well. I need to find something to wear. It's a very small informal event.

I have a very busy April. I run our churches' rummage sale on the 7th and 8th, then I prepare the meal for the Easter sunrise service on the 16th. I usually have about 40 people for that and I make a full Easter dinner at home. I also do the Easter flower orders for church. Then I get to breathe for a week before the wedding. Right now I'm doing the advertising for the rummage sale. Oh, and the day after the wedding is my first horse show!
  • Exercise
    1 hour walk

    Meals
    2 eggs and hash brown
Vegetables and hummus, slice of Irish soda bread
    Tomato soup, tomato/mozzarella flatbread sandwich

Oh my goodness! April is almost here and you are going to be one busy bee with all of the activities you are planning.
That month will just fly by for you. It sounds like a lot of nice activities. I am sure you are looking forward to it all.
I hope you find something nice to wear too. Especially since some of your clothes may be a bit baggy on you now since the New Year.

Good luck with the Saturday weigh-in!

Tip of the Day from Women's Health, Oct 2013
    A Well Trained Brain

Shaping up subtracts inches from your waistline-while adding minutes to your attention span.
In a study published in the journal PLOS ONE, athletes were better able to maintain attention
on a monotonous task than their sedentary counterparts were.
Researchers believe greater heart rate variability ( a result of being fit) is a sign
your autonomic nervous system (which controls involuntary functions) is running well
while also appears to be linked to better cognitive performance.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    california roll
    graham crackers
applesauce, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, irish soda bread ( I don't eat corned beef)

No change for me.....I ate too much last week. I need to do better.

I have a wisdom tooth that needs to come out. It's cracked and is giving me some pain. I need to work on getting an appointment for next week.

Looks like we're in for a bit of snow today...where is Spring?

    Have a great weekend!
  • Exercise
    2.5 hours walk

    Meals
    Tofu Scramble
Black bean soup, sweet potato/spinach casserole
    Mock pork bites, kale/potato fries

My weigh-in showed no loss this week. I need to get things moving again. Seems I am stagnating where I am right now. That is not good.

I hope you can get an appointment soon for your wisdom tooth. I hate going to the dentist, but I do go. Hope you get that problem fixed painlessly as possible and quickly too.

Snow!?! Wow, today was really nice here. It was in the 60's and sunny. I had some rain sprinkling one me as I walked this morning, but that was very light and only for a few minutes. Went to Tractor Supply today and saw the baby ducks and chicks. They are so sweet.

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

I've Hit a Weight-loss Plateau, and Now My Scale Won't Budge.

Once you drop pounds, your body becomes more efficient at burning calories,
which makes losing more weight difficult. The fix: Tweak your workout.
Turn up the burn. A high-intensity session zaps more calories after you stop working out than a moderate exercise does because your body maintains increased levels of certain fat-burning enzymes. Adding strength-training sessions can move the needle too. Do 20 minutes of resistance and you'll not only burn 128 calories during your workout, but also continue to torch more afterward because lifting weight raises your resting metabolic rate.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    chili

Got a bit of snow and freezing rain yesterday, but I think Spring is not far away! The birds are starting to sing more and it sure is lighter later in the day.

Hope you have a terrific Monday, and oh Happy Spring!!

Tip of the Day from Fitness Magazine, Nov/Dec 2013
Try an activity you have never done before.
    When you learn something new,
your muscles get a better workout than they do
    from your regular sweat session.

I need to get some small flowers for my dining room table. Just to make it feel more like Spring too,
    but inside.

    Your waistline

One bad night's sleep reduces the body's ability to process sugar the next day and
leads to greater fat storage, a study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found.
You can thank a triple threat of hormones that go haywire with too little slumber:
    ghrelin, which makes you crave fatty and sugary foods;
leptin, which regulates how much you eat; and
cortisol, which tells your body to hold on to visceral fatty tissue around the abdominals.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
1 hr. moving boxes for church rummage sale
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores
    10,897 steps

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    vegetable soup
    pretzels
    roast chicken, corn, sweet potato

    It was beautiful outside yesterday.

Wow, you got in lots of exercise. Good for you!

I like to buy a bouquet of flowers every once in a while from the grocery store for my kitchen table.

Called an oral surgeon yesterday. They can't get me in till May! I have more places to call today......

    Enjoy your day!
  • Exercise
    10 modified push ups
    10 flights of stairs
    10 flights of stairs
1 hour walk lifting 3 lb weight
30 minutes more walking mowing grass

    Meals
    2 eggs
    Tomato, spinach pasta with cheese
    Blueberry Pomegranate juice

I can't believe the oral surgeon can't get you in until May.
Did you tell them that you are in a lot of pain right now?
It may crack even more and get worse.
I hope you find someone soon who can help you.

You are also getting a lot exercise in. Moving boxes is definitely a workout.

This evening was beautiful walking outside. It is suppose to get down to freezing tonight though.

Tip of the Day from Fitness Magazine, Nov/Dec 2013
Too tired to work out? Commit to 15 minutes.
Studies show that even a quick hit gives you energy,
and makes you want to keep going.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
1 hr. moving more rummage sale boxes
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    chicken sandwich
    crackers
    lasagna, stringbeans

I called another oral surgeon and I have an appointment for the 31st. They will call if they get a cancellation. I take Advil when it starts to ache and that helps.

You didn't eat very much yesterday and you got lots of exercise. The scale should smile at you on Saturday!

You're mowing grass already? We still have snow! Most of it melted yesterday and today is going to be cold and windy.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!
  • Exercise
    10 flights of stairs
    10 modified push ups
    10 flights of stairs
30 minute jog/walk (too cold for more)
    Digging/planting for hour

    Meals
    Berry Drink
    Cheese and tomato sandwich
    Clementine

My the weather changed quickly this afternoon/evening.
Getting colder again. I got spoiled by the bit of nice weather.
Finally planted all my Lily bulbs today. Glad to have that done.

Good to hear that you got an appointment at least this month.
I hope someone cancels so you can get in there sooner.
Glad the Advil helps. It must be hard to eat too.

I probably do need to eat just a bit more.
I haven't been too hungry though, which is good.
I do hope the scale smiles at me this week.

I had to mow the yard on the sides of our house where the water drains down.
The grass was starting to get thick there, which is great for ticks.
We found one on our dog a couple of weeks ago, so
I want to make sure we keep the grass short to discourage them.
He is allergic to most tick repellents, so I just try to make sure I keep him
groomed well and out of wild growth areas.

    Have a terrific Thursday!

Tip of the Day from Fitness Magazine, Nov/Dec 2013
    Wake Up Call

As tempting as it may be to reach for a
    bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich
    or a chocolate-chip muffin,
giving in to cravings can backfire.
Fatty foods require a lot of energy to digest,
    leaving you even more sluggish,
and sweet treats and processed carbohydrates
cause your blood sugar and energy levels to spike and crash.
Counter the bulge by choosing foods that keep blood sugar steady
throughout the day for lasting energy.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
1/2 hr. moving hay from barn to barn
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    chicken soup, saltines
    fruitcup, sausage, carrots

It's a chilly 16 degrees here this morning. I think that will be the last cold morning.....

Today I go on a quest to find something to wear to my sister's wedding. Our local mall has a Bon Ton and Boscov's so I think I will start there.

I haven't seen any ticks on the cats yet....

    Have a great Thursday!
  • Exercise
    45 minute walk

    Meals
    Egg and cheese sandwich
    Banana
    Clementine
    Bean Burrito
    Veggie burger and pierogies

Wow! You should be getting some warmer weather by Friday or Saturday. I think we are suppose to get 70 degrees on Saturday. Today was still cool.

Did you find something nice to wear to the wedding?

Tip of the Day from Fitness Magazine, Nov/Dec 2013
    Mid-morning.

Improve your focus with a handful of mixed nuts,
such as almonds, walnuts and peanuts.
The protein provides a jolt of energy,
while the combo of filling fiber and
omega-3 fatty acids tides you over until lunch.
