Just picked up Ketone test strips and tested for the first time. They show I have a moderate ketone level which means I am following the Atkins low carb plan correctly.
Those strips don't work for everyone. I lost 100 lbs on Atkins and those strips never changed color for me at all.
  • Day 11 here. Feeling pretty amazing. Today is the first day in YEARS I haven't felt hungry. It's a strange feeling. Emotions are leveling out, energy is increasing, body is feeling less flabby
  • WOW!! Down another 2 pounds this morning! :

That makes 19 pounds in 24 days. Mr Atkins!! :

My test strips still show a Moderate Ketone level. This is great. Now to keep it that way!!

  • Induction Day 28
I am doing great on Atkins Induction. I checked my Pre-Atkins food tracking and I had been eating betwee 200 to 400 grams of carbohydrates every day. Since starting Atkins I have cut that to back to 5 to 19 grams of carbohydrates daily. A huge change. :

    5/18/2015 Total 7g Carbs, 128g Fat, 83g Protein

My daily goal: 18g Carbs, 109g Fat, 88g Protein
  • Hi All,
I am new to the forums and (sort of) new to Atkins. I did it a few years back but without reading the book! This time around I am more serious, but I have a problem, I know this is a way of life and I have only been doing it for just over a week, but I am struggling to fit this WOE into my life fully. For instance yesterday I had a carb-filled meal at my mother in laws. It just did not seem polite or practical to turn down a meal prepared by someone else. There is one solution I can think of and that is to simply not go to other peoples houses for dinner! That just doesn't feel practical or real, you know? A part of me thinks, "It's not what you do some of the time, it's what you do most of the time that counts" but I also know that the occasional carby- meal will probably kick me out of ketosis and ruin all my hard work...I love this WOE and I feel great on Induction but I can't help feel a little left out not being able to relax and enjoy family meals, without coming across difficult/snobby whatever because of my special dietary needs. I know things like yesterday (and worse) are ALWAYS going to happen, so how do I fit this WOE into my life? Will I ruin it all just by having one meal and then getting back on track? Should I just relax when these occasions come up and be strict for at least the 48 hours afterwards?
