  • Hiya ladies! Glad to see someone posting in this group! I spent December at 295... my highest weight ever. ugh! Scale read 285lb today so here I am in this thread.
I'm been focusing on eating lots of chicken and veggies mostly, with salmon thrown in here and there. Measuring my portion sizes, prepping over the weekend, and eating a meal or snack every 3-4 hours. Also staying away from sodas and fast food. It's working so far.
What strategies are you all using?

Hi Jen I'm using myfitnesspal too to track my eating and exercise. Glad to have you here.
  • Hi all,
After a 70 lb loss over 10 years ago, I’m back to almost 270 lbs.
I’m trying to start all over again. Message boards were so important to my accountability last time.
I met my husband 4 years ago and have never figured out how to schedule fitness around our life together. He’s also introduced restaurant appetizers to my life. I don’t do a good job of declining. And though I know what it takes and have loads of healthier twists I used to count on food wise, he’s not a fan of most of the healthier stuff. I’m not up for an evening cooking 2 different meals.

I’m lucky to have an elliptical at home. I just need to get on it. I need to cut the calories.
I’m 40 now so that’s an added challenge.

Anyway, I’ll focus on water intake and getting that back up. I worked out for 30 minutes this afternoon.
I’d like to do some light weight exercises and a few crunches to see if my abs recognize them at all.

I’m excited to read back and get to know you all. Jen and Goddess, I see you’ve posted the last couple of days and frequency is so helpful. I hope I can provide support to anyone here who needs it. I formed lifelong friendships on the board I was on years ago. And Jen, 10lbs in less than a month?!! Quite a motivator I’d imagine.

    I’ll check in again Tomorrow!
  • Hi!
I have not worked out today. I had a spa and salon day. Spa was my Christmas gift and it was wonderful. My massage reminded me of another nice perk of losing weight... being less self conscious of My size would be nice. Looking back at old haircuts def showed how much better my styles look around a thinner face.

Had Wheaties with chia seeds for breakfast, a few soy beans, nuts and dried fruit mix at spa and pot roast for dinner. Added a lot of cabbage that was yummy. Negatives would be some corn bread with roast and a glass of wine at the spa.

Tried to keep water in hand. Hope everyone is staying warm! Will check in Again tomorrow.
  • California dreamer, Awesome progress! Motivating to see it.
  • Jen515 and imthegoddess I am using myfitnesspal as well. I am also doing an online boot camp for exercise so I can do it at home. I did 5 days last week so i'm staying on track. Today I was down to 285.1! I'm also glad to see more people around this forum.

dallasgirl1 I am a cookbook fanatic and I love the Taste of Home diet cookbook. There are lots of lo-cal snacks in there that your husband would probably enjoy and many great recipes too! My kids even love them!

Great job on the boot camp. I'm not there yet. the Taste of Home diet sounds interesting. I saw the Cooking Light diet yesterday too for the first time. I'm not much of a cook, but I think I will check it out.
