So tomorrow makes 20 days for me....will my ticker(signature) automatically appear??
  • Quote: WI today....lost 3.8lbs and 6.75 inches. I was hoping for a five pound loss so I'm not terribly thrilled. I have to keep reminding myself that a loss is a loss. In two weeks I've lost just under 14lbs and 14 inches. This week was my husband's first WI, he's down 10.2lbs and 7.75 inches; I hate that men lose faster!

    Week three begins today!
Think how long it took you to get the weight on. Losing that much in 2 weeks is awesome. The first few weeks' numbers are higher. It will slow down so don't be disappointed if your numbers are not super high every week. The "average" is 2-3 pounds a week and you need a few weeks of high numbers and low numbers to get that average.

You need to set your ticker up. Go to User CP (top left corner of your screen) to do that. There is info on the first post of the "daily" that will give you the links with all that information.

I figured that part out- I guess I just wait for the "spot" where it goes to appear?

I don't have a Sams membership but I do have a Costco and they have great sales too.

Well, when I was out and about today, I picked up a bottle of WF thousand island dressing. One guess what's the first recipe I'm going to use this for???
  • I'm finishing up day 3 and it was a good one! Day 2 I struggled with hunger but today was okay. I ate out for the first time and made a good choice

Thank you to all for the support in this thread. I read it throughout the day and it really helps with the mental part.

Thanks for tracking down the recipe Linda. I'm going to be trying this one. It sounds real similar to Turkey Taco Salad:

    Turkey Taco Salad
    Ingredients:
    • 8 oz lean Ground Turkey
    • 2 tbs of Taco Seasoning (low sodium)
    • Pinch of Salt
    • 1 ½ cup Baby Spinach and/or Kale
    • Ό cup Cilantro, chopped
    • Ό cup Red Onion, sliced
    • Ό cup prepared Tomatillo Salsa “Dressing” or low-carb red salsa
    • A small dash of Grape Seed Oil
    • Slice of Lime

    Directions:
    • In a frying pan, heat the Grape Seed Oil over medium heat.
    • Add the Ground Turkey, Taco Seasoning, and a pinch of Salt. Mix well.
    • Cook the meat until brown, stirring occasionally
    • Once cooked, stir in the cilantro.
    • On a plate, assemble the Baby Spinach (or Kale), top with the Tomatillo Salsa,
meat, cilantro, and red onion. Add a squeeze of lime.
    • Enjoy!
  • I make taco salad all the time!

I just brown my meat (I use ground beef & no added oil). I looked up on the internet how to make my own taco seasoning so I wouldn't use a pre-prepared envelope containing sugar.

I put the hot, seasoned meat on top of a a LARGE bed of lettuce and top with some raw onions and homemade salsa I canned last Fall. I mix the salsa with mockamole and that is my salad dressing.

Actually, my dinner most nights is meat on top of a big bowl of lettuce (4-6 cups). I spread my veggies throughout the day and save 1 c for dinner.

It is super helpful to spend some time on the recipe threads in the forum. Links can be found on the first post of the daily chat thread.

A few other meat-on-top-of-salad ideas I got from the IP forum:
    buffalo chicken tenders (from boneless/skinless)
Pulled pork (I use WF BBQ sauce)
Shredded beef (with either WF Asian dressing or BBQ sauce)
If I haven't had my daily oil, i add it to the dressing or sauce.

Nancy~ You are so welcome! I found some different ones for it but was looking for the original that RuthAnn mentioned that called for dehydrated onions and I found it! I bought the WF thousand island dressing for it yesterday, can't wait to give it a try. Thanks for the Taco salad recipe too! Sounds yummy!

Lisa~ Good idea on making our own Taco seasoning! My dh mentioned the other night that he wanted me to make tacos but then said "oh but you can't have tacos" and I said "sure I can, I can have everything but the shells." But then I started thinking about what ingredients were in the pre-packaged taco seasonings. I will look up how to make my own now! I need to browse link you posted.

How was it Linda? I'm thinking of trying it tomorrow if I can find some WF Thousand Island in the local grocery store.

Good job Italophile!! Those first couple days..or even the first week, the hunger is there, but one day you will wake up and realized that it has changed, and that you are only getting hungry at meal times, and even then, it is a mild hunger and not that ravishingly hungry you get when you are consuming lots of carbs. Yay! Happy to hear you did good eating out for the first time! I just started week 3 yesterday and haven't eaten at a restaurant yet. But I have my first party to go to this coming weekend....and I have my plan of attack all ready!
  • From the book, Beck Diet Solution:

    Hunger is not an emergency.

This is a hard one to learn but it really helps once it is ingrained.

Beck Diet Solution has been a huge help to me in realizing many things, including the fact that I chose IP BECAUSE of it's structure so I needed to learn how to make it liveable and stay on plan, rather than justifying additions/changes. It took a lot of time and energy but it is doable!

The biggest thing about being on a diet is this:
