  • Quote: Thank-you for your cordial welcome. After years of being in a dysfunctional marriIage, I am getting my life back on track and getting my weight under control as part of my plan. I am shooting for 30 pounds but if I lose anything over 20 I will be very happy and proud of myself.

Does everyone use a consultant with their IP plan or are you doing it on your own. I was on IP a couple of years ago and didn't find the consultant I had very useful but I have heard that she is gone and I am wondering if I should check out the new staff.....I want to set myself up for success and being accountable is the way for me...lol

    Have an awesome day everyone!!

    Diane
Welcome! Good for you getting your life back on track! I have an IP clinic that I attend. I need to go get weighed and have someone keep track of it. I find it to easy to slip back into my old ways (based on past experiences).
  • Encouragement
It's so amazing to have this site to come to for encouragement and to see others in the same boat as me. I am also trying to lose 30 pounds by Christmas. I am on my 4th week of IP and I'm down 12 pounds and 6.5 inches. I feel so much better since starting. Good luck to everyone, I look forward to reading posts every day!

  • Quote: My first weigh in was today and I lost 7.8 lbs and 7 1/2 inches. So right now I'm at 7.8/30. Congrats to everyone for their excellent weigh-ins.
    Weigh in 2 I lost 7.4 lbs. I'm
    Currently 15.2/30
  • Hi Fellow IPers!! I was just checking out this thread and decided I would join...then I realized you don't have a spreadsheet going...so, hopefully this works! Everyone should be able to click the link below and access the spreadsheet. Just sign up and update weekly... (oh and fill in for the previous weeks)

I put my info on to test to make sure it is working...if anyone has any issues, let me know!

    Good luck everyone!

  • When I saw the title of this thread this morning in the New Posts it made me smile. You see, when my wife and I started our diet plan 2 1/2 months ago she set a goal for herself of losing 30 pounds by Christmas. (She is well on her way and will probably reach it by Thanksgiving.) When I lost 30 pounds by the beginning of September, she told me that she had set the same goal for me. I told her that I knew that I would lose weight faster because I had a LOT more to lose than she did. She then revised my goal to 60 by Christmas. Well, this past week I hit the 60 pound mark. In fact, this morning I am down almost 65 pounds. So now she has set a goal of 100 pounds for me by Christmas. It is definitely a do-able goal, but I am not too concerned with long term goals. I really just take it day by day and make sure I stay on my plan. The long term weight loss will take care of itself. But it makes my wife happy to make-- and meet -- the goals. Anyway, I just thought I'd share.
  • Joefla- You've got this thing in the bag! Fantastic success and fantastic attitude. Your wife is a lucky woman and it is so good to see you doing this together. Looking forward to hearing more about your successes.

Thanks Fishette for the words of encouragement. I've had struggles to lose weight in the past, but this time -- fortunately -- I have been able to overcome the struggles. I think its because in the past I have been losing weight for less important reasons (i.e. to look better). Now, I have a more important purpose: to be around for my kids as long as possible. Now that I am in my 40s, I realized that if I did not do something about my weight, I probably wouldn't be around for too much longer. Having my wife do it with me helps tremendously. Going on the diet plan was actually her suggestion, although we both knew for a long time we needed to do it. I am lucky to have her.

I know from past experience, and the experiences of others which I've read about in this forum, that the harder challenge is going to be to maintain the weight loss after I have reached my goal. In the past, I've eventually put the weight back on -- and then some. this time has to be different. I realize that my diet plan is not just a temporary crash diet, but that I will have to use these same skills and discipline in my maintenance plan for the rest of my life. Going forward, I don't think there will ever be a day (or at least a week) in my life that I do not get on the scale to check myself. I can't let my past be repeated. And now I have the confidence to say that I WON'T let it happen again.
  • Bump!
