I'm Back...

  • Hey all,

Not sure if anyone will remember me but I've been on an hiatus for a LONG time....

I actually had weight loss surgery last July [joined a WLS support group and recently left that group due to a lot of negativity]. I lost 99lbs since July. Yay me! Then had my gallbladder removed last month, regained a few lbs after that surgery and I've been stuck at the 93lbs lost since then so I'm returning to my old friend Atkins to break the plateau.

I'm thinking of starting Induction tomorrow. After weight loss surgery you pretty much eat low carb but those pesky carbs have found their way back into my diet.

Hope everyone is doing well and finding many successes with Atkins
  • I know someone who had WLS and she found ways to sneak in those carbs too I am new to Atkins (a little over a week of Induction). genaw.com is a wonderful low carb website with recipes. I have been experimenting since I got tired of a bunch of salads How are you doing post-op? Welcome!
  • Post op I'm doing okay - wouldn't trade having surgery for anything. Went from walking with a cane & looking at scooters to walking freely. Haven't had any issues with foods. Im lucky that I don't have dumping syndrome. The only major issue was with gallstones from the rapid weight loss.
  • Congratulations on your accomplishment! I actually didn't realize that rapid weight loss coumd cause gall stones! I am always in pain while walking due to a foot condition and I keep hoping that once I lose weight I will atleast be partially pain free. I noticed we are close to the same weight currently. What kind of exercise are you doing?
  • Right now...just walking. I try and get in at least 60 minutes a day at a rapid pace. 60 minutes is about 5K for me. I try and aim for that distance.
  • Hey Atkins Induction people....anyone experiencing lower back pain? I have this dull ache in my lower back, it comes and goes and it is uncomfortable.
I have had it for about 5 days now and have had to take 2 painkillers a couple of times already. I read online it may be related to the amount of protein one eats--don't know....

    Anyone else?
  • Never experienced lower back pain from protein consumption. I actually never even heard of it. Could it be from any exercise that you're doing? Maybe the way you're sleeping? I get pain in my back if I sleep wrong. Lol!
  • I read it may be related to kidneys processing to much protein?
I thought it may be from sitting on my couch and watching 8 episodes of Falling Skies Season 1!!!!!!!!!
But I was not convinced after reading this: http://forum.lowcarber.org/archive/i...p/t-31421.html
