Produce Bags

  • Just a tip since we all love to eat our 4 cups of veggies a day and to help save money on produce.

Buy those reusable Produce Bags, here in Canada one product is called PC Green. They work great, my romaine, iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower and celery last for at least a couple of weeks without spoiling.

They're a good fair size for large heads of romaine, reusable up to 12 washes too.

    It's a good thing
  • thanks for the tip!

Where do you get them? Online??
  • Tiger....I'm sure if you look at your local grocery store they will sell them in the saran wrap aisle or on the end aisles in the produce section. Might be another brand though because PC I think is only available in Canada?

  • We have green bags which are pricey but a little more effective than the produce bags produced by Glad. A lot of times I use the Glad for things that I figure I'll work through fast.
  • I couldn't find either of these at my grocery store. They used to have them in the 'as seen on tv' isle at Fred Meyers. Anyone in my neck of the woods know where they sell them in town?

Hefty makes a Zipper bag that's called "Fresh Extend" for fruit and vegetables. HTH!
  • I just use the tupperware crispers that have the two venting spots on it (I have three, a medium, large and the large round squat one (for lack of a better description))

The containers have directions on whether you keep the two venting spots open/closed or one of the two open/closed (depending on what you're storing in there)

Using it, my berries can last a week. Not to mention the veggies/lettuce although they don't last that long anymore lol.
  • I need to check out the Zipper ones. I love the other green bags I got.. but twisty ties.. REALLLY -.- lol.
