    to the July exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!

    In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

    In 2010 the 300+ club broke our 2009 record and exercised for over 250,000 minutes. I don't know if we'll break that record, but I do know exercise is a great way to keep on plan.

    To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as
    Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes.

  • Wow, I totally missed the fact that July was smacking us in the face!

    I need to kick up the exercise, so I will make 900 min my goal.
  • I really want to keep up at least 30 minutes cardio a day, so I'm going for 1000 (for the first time). That's 30 minutes a day + 70 minutes extra, and really should be do-able if I keep up the yoga a couple times a week and maybe add some additional strength stuff.
  • OK the dogs and I are "in" for July.
    We try and walk an hour in the AM and 22 min in the PM.
    (Some days we get the hour route in twice and some days not at all)
    Anyway we are willing to commit to 2400 min for July in my name.

    Group total ~ 00 + 60 = 60 minutes

    (I hope I did that right)

  • 26 minutes at rest stops yesterday.

    Personal total: 26/1000

    Group total: 200 + 26 = 226
  • 60 minutes of walking

    Group Total:226 + 60= 286
  • 40 minutes today! I decided to try some of the other exercises on the wii, and they were hard for me, lol. There was one where you had to balance on one leg and move the other back while moving an arm forward.. what a show I put on. I was losing my balance and flailing all over the place, hah! 60/400 for my personal goal. (440 to go!)

  • Love the wii! It's the easiest way for me to get exercise in It's the most fun I have with the exercise, too.. hehe.
