  • Hey I just started a diet on february 20th starting weight was 288 today im 269....im pretty proud of myself because all im really doing is eating healthy small meals about 5 -6 times a day but im sure I should start taking vitamins but im not sure of which ones to take besides a muti- vitamin.....anyone ever heard of african mango???? I hear it aids in fat loss???
  • I have not heard of African mango, but CONGRATS on your speedy loss! I committed myself to this on Dec. 28, and I've only lost 18 lbs. Go YOU!
  • I take a multi-vitamin daily. I also take a supplement called Lipo 6 Black. It's adverstised as a fat burner but I'm not fooled by that claim. However, it DOES suppress my appetite (but not too much where I don't eat), it gives me LOADS of energy for working out and it makes me thirsty for water. So even if it didn't burn an ouce of fat on its own, it certainly helps me lose it in other ways. But that's just me. Could be mind over matter....but whatever works, right? :-)
  • Hi and congrats on the weight loss! That's amazing!

As for vitamins, I take a multi vitamin for women, B-complex, and Fish oil. I also just a couple of days ago began taking a green tea vitamin, just to see if I notice any kind of difference in my energy levels or weight loss from it. You never know!

Keep up the good work! Yay!
  • I currently take Geritol Complete b/c it's the most complete vitamin I could find that didn't do mega-doses of one vitamin or another. I am thinking about adding a biotin supplement for my hair and nails too.
  • I take "Vitalizer" it's a strip of vitamins created by Shaklee. It contains Omega 3s, and is a complete multivitamin and multimineral supplement, and includes a probiotic to help replace good bacteria in the digestive track. They are time released so they get to where they need to go at exactly the right time.
  • I take Centrum Advanced. I used to take Prevention and they were so good! They stopped cravings..but apparently they have been discontinued.

I used to take omega-3 as well but now my goal is to eat salmon 3 times a week. Also, I think I might look into more B vitamins in the future.
  • African Mango

Yes I've been using it for a couple of weeks now. I've noticed an increase in energy and supressed apetite but no measureable weight loss due to it. I've heard it can take up to 4 week. africanmango.rentcolmbiatn.co m
  • As a vegetarian, I take vitamin B12, and vitamin D3. I also eat 1 tbsp flax seeds a day to get my omega 3 intake. I prefer when possible to get my daily vitamins in their natural form from fresh foods.
  • A multi, fish oil, and a Calcium + D.
  • Good questions .. and congrats on your loss!

I take a multi, fish oil and Calcium. Occasionally, I'll take a fat burn or CLR. I don't really notice any difference with anything, so I'm not vigilant on taking the extras.
  • I always take Pre-Natals even though I'm not pregnant and have no plans to be in the near future. The extra Folate is good for the heart, and the extra iron, calcium, and fish oils are just good, period. Occasionally I take a B-Complex for stress, but you know you don't really need it if you have an electric yellow pee within about 45 min of taking it!
  • I eat my vitamins.

I don't supplement, but I track what I eat with Fitday, and if I'm missing a vitamin or three I adjust my eating. When I'm "on" I can, and do, get nearly 100% or better of all my vitamins and minerals from food, and yes, while eating restricted calories. It does take a not inconsiderable amount of thought, research and planning, but I think that vitamins from food are more useful than vitamins from, well, vitamins, so if I can, I do. You can too!

  • I only take fish oil, evening primrose oil, & glucosomine for the joints. I used to take a multi when my diet was a bit lacking in the vegetable department but I don't bother anymore
  • Multi-vitamin, calcium, vitamin D and fish oil. I have glucosamine, but I usually only take that on the days before/after a long run.
