To review this past weekend's thread: December 18-19, 2010
  • Its Monday and I'm excited...This weekend I made all kinds of Christmas goodies..I made Tins for some people at work...I did not lick, stick my finger in, snack, bite, taste any off the goodies or the dough...I was singing and drinking plenty of water...stopped and had a protein bar that totally satisfied me..I going to be swimsuit ready this year..and it thrills me...
  • Happy Monday Everyone!

Had my WI#3 this weekend and lost 3 more pounds, yeah! Love how I look in the mirror now. I love the fact that Im not hiding behind sweaters anymore. Gotta love IP, and I just got to create my weight tracker this morning. yipee!
  • I am so happy to finally get my weight tracker....but now I don't know how to get it to post with my posts....lol......help!
  • Good Monday Morning!!!!
OK only 5 more sleeps until comes!! Everybody ready??

And only 3 more sleeps until we leave for DS's !!! I am getting very excited!!

My DD gave me some summer clothes, in the bag were a size 10 pr of jeans, didn't try them on as I didn't think they would fit yet. Sat night I decided to slip them on to see how many lbs I would have to loose before they fit.
AND MUCH TO MY AMAZEMENT THEY FIT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I love IP!!
Me in a size 10 jean, I Can't believe it

    Have a great day everyone!!!!
  • Good Morning Everyone!

Yes, as you can tell by my absence, I fell off the IP train. There are no good excuses.
Picking up, dusting off, and moving forward.
Today, back on track. I hated the way it felt to be off, I was nauseous, my GERD returned, and I felt sluggish and fat the whole time. Oddly enough, I refused to get on a scale, but my clothes feel different, and I am truly mad at myself.
Beating myself is done, move it, to the positive playing field!

Have a great Christmas IP week peeps!

Hey Susan you have done an amazing job, so don't beat yourself up for a slip up. Now that you know how you feel when not watching what "bad stuff" goes into your body, you will be fine!! Isn't it amazing how quickly our bodies let us know when we have abused them with Uky food!!!
    Have a great Christmas
  • stalled....again
Good morning all. It sounds like everyone is doing well during this extremely tempting season. I am still stalled after week 2 in phase 2. I did lose 3 lbs last week, but the two weeks before only lost a lb each and haven't lost anything this week. I am getting quite frustrated! I wanted to be in maintenance for at least 4 weeks before we go on our trip in late Feb. at this rate it isn't going to happen. If anyone can give me some pointers it would be most appreciated! I have followed everything to a "t", but seems like my body is rebelling and refuses to let go of the weight. I am at my goal weight, but must go down the 5 so that I can gain it back (I laugh when I say that and see the look on my hubby's face when I explained it to him just like that). ...anyway, if anyone has any pointers I would listen! Thanks, I hope everyone has a great, temptation free day!
  • ..Hello Monday !! It has been a rough few days, surgery went well Wed...came home Thursday eve....MD removed some bad cervical discs and put a plate and 4 screws on the new 'donor' discs ....my back/neck/arm pain is GONE allready... However, this surgery is done by entering through the front of the throat....SO...I am still unable to eat solids...
THANK GOD FOR IP DRINKS AND PUDDINGS !!!!
I will go w daughter to WI Tues eve, not sure if I have lost because I have NOT eaten the veggies...and a few days I couldn't even swallow my 3rd IP packet.....I know that not eating doesnt always mean a loss !!

Congrads to all that had a great week!!! To those that fell off the IP wagon...what counts the most is that you got back ON !!! We will all win the battle of the 'bulge' one day at a time !!
    HAVE A GREAT DAY !!! .........
  • Hi All,

I've never used a forum before so I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly I think i posted a thread too by accident. Sorry!

I've been on Ideal Protein for 3 weeks and am down 12lbs. Since its the holiday season/going on vacation I was wondering if anyone knew of the repercussions of altering phase1. Basically I just want to add a meat or fish to my lunch rather than a packet and have my night time packet before dinner so that I have energy to go to the gym. I've been doing well so far but the price is getting to be a problem and by eliminating 1 packet a day the diet would be much more manageable on my wallet! I have a meeting with my coach in a couple days but I thought I would see what you all had to say. I've been following your threads and really appreciate all of the advice I've gained here!

    Thanks!

    Abby

I know this will not help your frustration any, but some people (myself included) continued to lose on Phase 3 and did not gain anything on phase 4. But I think if you lost 3 on a phase 2 week, you are just continuing to be an "uneven" loser--as most us are. So, if you really want to get down another 5 pounds, you'll just have to stick it out as your body does the "lose, pause, adjust, lose" cycle again. Sorry!

Abby, welcome to the board and congrats on your decision to improve your health through IP!

what you are suggesting is actually moving to Phase 2. This may slow your loss rate. Jump over to the sticky about the Phases and you can read about it there, and/or you can download all of Dr. Tran's book for free (see the link at the head of this thread) and it will explain why the diet has 4 phases. Phase 1 is for 90-95% of your weight loss, and only at that time are you meant to go to Phase 2. It may save you money in the short run, but could cost you more as you will need to be "on plan" a lot longer to lose the weight. But you are right, you should discuss it with your coach. There are alternative products that you can buy if you can square that with your coach.

Also: regarding exercise: you really should not be doing any heavy exercise in the first few weeks, and only keep it to low heart rate through phase 1. Exercising too heavily can actually slow your loss, but more importantly may endanger your health, because you are not taking in enough calories to be able to expend like that (and your body will burn muscle, not fat, which is NOT what you want!)

So you fell of the train! Pick yourself back up and don't stop being with this group. Not many of the people here made it all the way to goal without some slip, planned cheat, cheat, or break. If you need to talk about it or vent, go to the oops thread. No one will judge you and we will try to help you get back on plan.

If you just need to own up to it and get re-motivated, keep up here.

No one failed because they "fall". They fail because they stop trying and lose their sense of commitment. Let us be there for you so that doesn't happen!

Just realize, now you KNOW how your body responds and feels after those moments. I bet it is much less tempting the next time you are in that situation.

It isn't uncommon for people to stall or slow down a bit as they shift phases. Just keep doing things on plan and see how the next weigh in goes. One weigh in that is not great isn't a big concern. You have lost 5 pounds in 21 days so, to not be recording a loss yet for this weigh in week isn't alarming. It may be a bit delayed. Your system is getting use to processing and using real food protein. It may need some time to adjust.

You are basically doing a phase 2. It should allow you to continue losing weight. You are using more animal protein instead of the more highly bio available proteins so, it could be harder on the kidneys, you could get less protein than you think you will, you could slow down in weight loss a bit sooner. You could try it and see how you do. Also, you could substitute one ideal protein packet a day with a costco premier protein drink or other powdered protein drink mix that is comparable.

We have a whole discussion and list of options in this conversation thread here.
