Going out to lunch- input :D

  • Ok we're going to my all time fav restaurant tomorrow for lunch and I'm not sure what to get. I know I might want dessert if its on offer (Soul Trinkets- I guess theyre kinda like petit fours? but more amazinger) so I want a tasty but relatively lower cal lunch. Here's the menu: http://www.soulbar.co.nz/c/menus/sou...u.01.10.10.pdf

I was thinking either the grilled hapuku fillet on petits pois a la francaise with smoky pancetta, or the roast baby chicken on sauteed smoked bacon and oyster mushrooms, new season’s asparagus. It seems like gram for gram chicken and hapuku is about the same, but I'm guessing roasted is going to be more fatty than grilled.

HMMMMM what do you guys think?
  • Ooh. My sister tried to get me to go there for my birthday (I've never been).
I think out of those two options I'd go for the fish because restaurant fish is always
so much more amazing than fish you'd eat at home (at least in my opinion). Plus I
eat chicken so much so fish seems like a nice change. The tuna also looks really tasty with
the aubergine caponata salad, whatever that is, but not so much on the fried caper dressing...
If you like lamb, the lamb rack also looks like it could be pretty tasty! Hah! I don't know!
I'm jealous, I want to go out for lunch toooooo. Let us know what you decide!
  • OH gosh sorry for the weird layout of my response, my internet died so I had to copy it into word pad and then back in here. Weird.
  • Haha no worries, i thought it was very styley

You should totally go! And if you do, have the trinkets! They were like amazing. I was thinking fish because i do have a lot of chicken and i cant be assed making nice fish because its more hard work! And it doesnt sound too saucy either which is good.
  • Mmmm fish. Yeah it's hard to make fancy tasting fish at home. My favourite at home seafood is grilled salmon pieces with lemon pepper and drizzled with lemon. Oh man. I want it now haha.

I hope you have a fun lunch! Those trinket things sound really good...desserts have the possibility to be a huge downfall for me but because I don't have them that often (at restaurants anyway) I might have to make an exception if I ever make it to Soul!
  • The trinkets are amazing and not huge, a very nice desert! Kinda the size of if you had a selection of chocolates as a dessert. If you want a small dessert, dont have the selection of sorbets you get about 6 small pots of sorbet and they are all amazing but thats a lot of sorbet for someone watching their food!
