  • I need a job also.
  • I love my job 95% of the time. When I don't love it, it's because of hours, not because of what I'm doing.

I am the lead software designer for a company that produces laboratory medical software (basically, the software that a doctor uses to order lab tests and receive results). I don't do any coding/programming, but spell out exactly what the needed workflows and user interfaces look like for the developers to work from. It's a perfect combination, for me, of getting to solve design conundrums (ie, a lab needs a certain thing to happen in the software, how do we use what we already have to get them what they need or modify things slightly to make it happen), working with clients and programmers alike (they're very different!), and figuring out actual designs....with a dose of writing documents for clients, conducting trainings, etc. It's neat to know that out there, somewhere, doctors are using the application that I designed to give better care to patients, and it's great that I get to work on different problems and different solutions almost every day.

Plus I get to work from home, working out on my lunch and staying in my sweaty gym clothes through meetings.

  • I love my job...it's the work I hate!
  • I am a full time college student like you and also have a part time job. I love it! I am a server at a Japanese steakhouse. I really enjoy it because I work one night shift and make $100 dollars that is in my pocket when I walk out the door!
  • I love it, cause catching babies is good for my soul.

    I don't like the politics.
  • I LOVE being a nurse....physically and emotional draining at times, yes. Rewarding beyond belief...great income....many positives.
  • I teach at risk 5 year olds and I love my job.
The paperwork and politics can get old, but spending my days with the kids and being around their excitement, energy and enthusiasm is such a gift. I come home tired at night, but I can't think of any job I would enjoy more than this one.
  • I tape drywall for a living...have been doing that for over 40 years! My dad was a union drywall contractor so I grew up in the trade. I have always enjoyed my work, although the older I get the harder it is for me physically.

But like anything else...some projects are good ones...some are not...

like having to start in 90210 this past month just to be able to beat traffic in and out of Los Angeles from where I live....

Good Luck IGLOOGIRL in finding "your" journey of employment
  • I drive a school bus and I absolutely love this job. My kids aren't from the most well to do neighborhoods.................they are the brightest youngsters I've ever met and they make me smile each and every day!
  • I'm an RN in a postpartum/well baby nursery for a large hospital. Love what I do every day or I wouldn't still be doing it after 35 years. Hate the documentation part of my job and the constant critiquing by administration. Takes me away from the patients.
  • I love my job, I'm in my 16th year. I teach 13-18 year olds in High school. Time passes by so fast sometimes my head spins
  • I work in a knife shop. :P
Its awesome. I only work 10 hours a week or so because I'm a full time student. But its really fun.
  • I work for the local government. I love the job, it's fabulous. I love the benefits and perks. I do not love the pay. Not even a little bit. But since I'm in school full-time, once I get my Masters I'm going to want a government job (and it will have better pay!), so this gets my foot in the door early. Luckily, DH has a job with great pay, terrible benefits, terrible hours, that he hates. His pay is getting me through school, then hopefully my pay will allow him to get a job he loves.
