My kitchen has never been cleaner!

  • I was just thinking of advice to give a new girl on how to break the snack habit. Hers hits from 6pm-9pm. Mine usually hit around 7:30...after dinner while I was winding down from the day. I always found myself wanting just a little more of something.

I realized I quit this by doing 2 things:

    1. Planning a low calorie snack for near bedtime in my calories for the day. A Light and Fit Yogurt 6 oz is 80 calories plus I drink a cup of hot chamomile tea with 2 tsp honey.

    2. This one just dawned on me....I started deep cleaning the kitchen when the snack craving hit trying to take my mind off the food. I wipe down counters, face the products in the cupboards, unload and then load the dishwasher with the dinner dishes, take out the trash, wipe down the stove and spot mop the floor. I then (and this is the MOST important part) turn off the light!! Kitchen is closed.Period. If my son wants a snack, he can get one for himself out of his very own healthy snack drawer. I give myself permission to not step foot back in there until morning to make my lunch for work. My kitchen is spotless (well the one at my apartment was, the new house?? I've not started the routine yet but will!!)

Hope this helps! I really think the key to being successful on this journey is to be firm with yourself. I AM the boss of me. I AM in control of 100% of what goes in my mouth and on my hips. For so long I felt powerless to my weight and eating habits like I was possess or something!
  • I think you have a great way of dealing with it. Plus you get to wake up every morning to a clean kitchen! I don't know about you, but I hate waking up to a mess leftover from yesterday. I like a clean house for a new, clean day.
