Question about bars (the food, not the place!)

  • I take a Clif Kidz snack bar (140 calories, 4gm protein, 2.5 to 4gms fat, 4-5gms fiber) in my purse. These are $.89 a bar at EVERY grocery store I have gone to (Sprouts, Fry's, etc)...if I am out, I grab a Fiber One just for the fiber content (4gms fat). These two with a decent size bottle of water along with an apple will hold the cravings off!
  • I used to like the Zone and Balance bars... they were like candy bars to me (really! at my highest weight I would binge on a few at night).

Now I'm trying to cut back on the soy, so I sometimes have the Lara bars or Odwalla bars. They are mostly all organic and made with dates, fruits and nuts and they taste good to me (not chocolate coated like the Zone bars though )
  • Lara bars are ah'mazing!!! I love the cherry pie and apple pie flavors. Completely natural too
  • I love the fiber one bars, but they give my whole family the most painful gas ever. Kashi are really good and there are some that almost taste like a candy bar. Hubby usually eats a kashi and a cup of pineapple and cantelope for breakfast. And it tides hime over till lunch.

Me too! They're like a bulldozer in my GI tract. It's really too bad cos you can get that box of like 2000 at costco for like 10 bucks...

I actually really like the Kellogs Fiber Plus Antioxidants bars. They're REALLY tasty, chewy, all that good stuff. They're 120 calories, 4 grams of fat, 9 fiber and 2 protein. Not bad.

Other than those I avoid bars like the plague. The idea for making your own is a great idea too. There's recipes on Allrecipes.com that you can alter to make them to your tastes (and make lower in fat/cals too.)
