Running and possible the dumbest question ever posted
I have never been able to figure this out, and my exercise has suffered as a result. Let's say you're running, or walking even. On the treadmill or outside. You put on your ipod. And the silly earphones keep falling off! How do you get them to stay on? Do I have weird ears or is the entire world in on a secret that I have yet to figure out?
lol! this is an easy one You can get special earplugs that will stay in- usually they have a hook that goes behind your ears to stay in. Mine are Nike, they were around NZ$40 i think. Other than that, theres always celotape I was sorely tempted before i got my nike ones...
It's not a dumb question -- I have the same problem!! My solution is to buy the "sports" headphones that have a headband over the top of your head. My ears are small and the regular kind just pop out, and the "behind the ear" ones bother me.
On a message board elsewhere, I read about a brand of earbuds that came with three different little rubber stoppers of different sizes, so you could choose the size that best fit in your ears.
The name was ridiculous, but memorable.
So I went to the electronics store & asked for them. You have to imagine me, a -- ahem -- mature lady, approaching this slouchy, slacker-boy clerk, who couldn't have been more than a day over 17. I cleared my throat & managed to get out the brand name, though I probably said it was though I was speaking a foreign language:
"Can you tell me if you carry Skull Candy Smokin' Buds?"
They did. I wear the medium-size buds that come in the package. They stay in when I run & work out.
And now I love saying "Smokin'." Smoooookin'. Yeah, dude. Smoooookin' buds.
I have the "smokin ear buds too" except I think it was Griffin brand that I bought at Best Buy, they even came with a little case to keep em in! Here's a link:
I can't wear the earbuds otherwise they hurt my ears!
P.S.: Saef, I just checked out the smokin buds! I don't know how mature is mature but I would love to have seen the kids face when you asked for those! They are very colorful!
Since I started my weight-loss journey I've gone thru 4 or 5 pair of headphones/earbuds. I now keep a spare pair in my car for those morning I forget my regular pair at home. I like the over/around the ear version, but I originally used a pair from Aiwa that went behind my head. DH has the Skullcandy ear buds, but I'm not that fond of them myself.
One thing I figured out after much aggrevation is to put my ipod on my upper arm in the sportsband/case and then thread the headphone wire under my sleeve and the strap of my sportsbra. This makes the headphone cord more adjustable. My hands would get caught in the cord and I was constantly yanking my earphones out by accident when I ran. Running is so much easier now.
I can't do earplugs because the constantly loosen or fall out and it breaks my concentration the whole time I am exercising. I like the 'over-the-ear' headphones. I put my Ipod in my sports bra (lol) and go!
I wear a headband to hold my hair back from my face and I thread my earphone wires under the headband and then up to my ears. This seems to keep the earbuds in my ears. I also wind the cord under the sports bra like Dixie to keep it out of the way of my arms.
I'll say, I hate this system, but I'm also a pretty cheap person so I'm not replacing them until I absolutely have to. I'll probably get some fancy sport ones that hook around the ears then.
I too like the "over the ear hook" style headphones. I jog outside, so I like non-plug style ones that allow me to hear road noise and things going on around me. The skull candy ones block out too much noise for me to feel safe using them. They're great for sound quality though.
This thread made me smile as I used to have that 'am I the only one with this weird problem' feeling too as earbuds went flying as I ran : ) I got a pair like these http://www.staples.com/office/suppli...&ci_sku=738009
and they work fairly well, with only the occasionally coming out of the ear issue.
