  • besides ebay? I'm looking for some new summer clothing and don't want to spend a lot. I checked ebay for some shorts, and am not having much luck, so I was wondering if you all new if there was any other place besides ebay that I might have some luck?
  • Thrift stores are pretty awesome. Yes, they are hit or miss, and you never know what you will find on any given day, but I have had some great finds. Yesterday I stopped by a thrift shop to look at books/magazines - and bought my husband a pair of brand new Gap courdoray marked down to .95!! He is a 34/34, and it can be hard to find his sign. These were perfect for him for work, and they were probably at least 60.00 new.
  • And, the nice thing about thrift stores is that unlike ebay, you can try the items on first.
  • It depends on what size you are, though. At my size, it's easy to find t-shirts, but difficult to find size 16 pants/shorts, or other types of shirts. If you're smaller, I'm sure there are a lot more options.
  • what about craigslist ??
  • Is it against the TOS of 3FC to do it right here in the forum?
You could post what you have for sale, ad pics. Then folks could PM, get private emails and connect about price, payment, shipping, etc.

Maybe even a clothes swap too. I'll send you my whatever, size whatever, you send me your whatever.

Garage sale season is fast approaching too! I love garage sales.
  • I see it is against the rules to sell stuff here.

Oh well, it was a thought. Thinking on how I could set up a site for that very purpose.
  • OMG, I was thinking this VERY thing today! I had to buy a beautiful midnight blue formal for Friday, and lamenting that I hated to spend that kind of money on something that I hopefully will never be able to wear again. And wondering if 3fc had a clothing swap.
  • I didn't want to spend a lot of money on clothes while I was losin weight either, and i bought most of my things at a thrift store. I was amazed at the things i found. Remember, you aren't the only one losing weight and changing clothes sizes.
  • Take a look at Overstock.com. They have reduced prices for limited stock on all kinds of things including clothing.
  • I know you said online, but Plato's closet is here, and its a resale clothing shop. Whats great is that once you are done with the clothes you can take them back and resell them, and buy smaller stuff. I think they have sizes 16-18 and below.
For online, Craigslist is good, and places like Target and Jcpenny have some good stuff in their clearance section.
  • Why not try shopgoodwill.com ?
  • And don't forget freecycle.org
  • I personally have not had luck in consignment shops. I need dress pants for a professional office, and they are charging $15/pair. I can buy them new for $19. So I gave up on that end. *sigh*
  • Have you got a TJ Maxx nearby? I've bought really great things for next to nothing. Be careful with online clothing exchanges. You can get shafted by the nicest people.
