Default Reasons for dieting

I am on my 7th day of this diet and I am all cold and shivery and hungry and fed up and depressed, etc. etc. I keep asking myself why I am doing this - and I thought I would post here my reasons why so that I can come back and have a look when I feel like this again.

1. I want to be healthier - get my blood pressure down, not get puffed out if I have to run more than 20 yards and not worry about my health in old age.

2. I want to look better - I would love to look amazing, but realistically I want to be able to look in a mirror and say to myself in all honesty that I am pleased with what I see.

3. I want to be able to go in to any clothes shop anywhere and know that there will be something in there to fit me - even if I don't like it and don't want to buy it.

4. I want to be able to feel that I don't stand out in a crowd - or if I do it is because of positive reasons, not because I am that porky woman who obviously has no self control (not my words - the words woman on a bus about a year ago!)

5. This follows on from No. 4 - but I want to be comfortable with the idea of eating and drinking in public. I hate that feeling of being watched and people thinking 'so thats how she got fat'.

6. I want to be able to go to the doctor and him not blame every minor and/or major ailment I get on my weight.

7. I want my husband and daughter to be proud of me. They know how much it would mean to me to get down to goal. To get to my target weight and stay their for a year will mean as much to me as getting my degree did.

8. I want to know that I have got some control over myself and my eating habits - its stupid for an adult woman to carry on the way I do. Noone forces me to eat - its MY decision!

9. I want to be a size 12-14 and wear shorts and a strappy top on really hot days and not huge T shirts and leggings.

10. I want to be able to get in the shower and not wonder if the bottom of it is going to give up the ghost this time.

Well - there it is - my reasons for dieting. I am sure there are much better ones, but those are mine.

Anyone else???

I want to get my photos back from the shop without going into a depression that lasts all week when I see them!

I want to shop somewhere else than Evans PLEASE!

I want to apply for a job with a uniform without wondering if I would fit into it!

I want to go back to my old hairdressers with the barely there wicker chair and not worry about breaking it this time!

I want to be able to tell people my weight!

I want to go out with my best friends and not be the biggest one in the group.

I want to be able to enjoy looking at photos of myself.

I want to be able to get rid of the constant nagging worry about weight that is always there.

I want to look sexy when I get dressed up to go out.

I want to stop feeling like a failure.

I want to stop avoiding mirrors.

Great thread! Anyone else?

Here are mine:

To be able to buy clothes anywhere I want - Karen Millen, Jigsaw, etc

To be more confident with my appearance

To have a healthy BMI

To not get out of breath so easily

To make me feel good about myself

To wear the black Next dress that I wore just after I graduated

To show that I can achieve it, although on the face of it it looks like a huge goal

To be able to wear crop tops and hipsters - if I want too

To pierce my belly button - might not though - can't take pain

Great thread Peachey.

* I don't want to look like my Grandmother who I love very much but think looks HUGE only to be told that we're about the same size.

* I want to fit into the lovely pink and white checked summer shirt I bought last year and have never fit into (note to self: never buy clothes that don't quite fit!!).

* I want my children to be proud of me and not have problems with food in the future because of me.

* I want to go out with my clothes "tucked-in"

* I want to get my belly button pierced.

* I want to fit into an aeroplane seat.

* I want to sit by the hotel pool and be proud - not hide away.

* I'm sick of my legs rubbing together when it's a hot day.

I want........

my MIL to stop saying that she bought me a blouse in the biggest size and if it doesn't fit, she's got the receipt (in her loudest voice at Xmas/birthday present-giving time)

to wear a swimsuit and denim cut-offs on really hot days (sort of a la Erin Brockovich)

to wear my t-shirts tucked into jeans

to actually wear jeans without looking like Eddy Yeats from Coronation St (remember him?)

to not look like my head is a boiled beetroot (my daughter's words) in the middle of disneyland paris on a particularly warm French day

to have a small seahorse tattoo on the top of my thigh which I can show off beautifully in my new bikini on holiday

I WILL get there this year.......

I've got millions of these - here's a few ......

1. I want to be healthy, all this weight must be hurting my heart
2. I want to be pleased with my reflection when I look in the mirror
3. I want to give my joints a rest
4. I want my boys to be proud of me
5. I want people to remember me as something other than 'the fat bird'
6. I want to buy clothes I like instead of clothes that fit
7. I want to run in the mums race on sports day & be able to talk at the end of it
8. I want someone else to be the biggest in the room
9. I want the chairs in our staff canteen not to leave feet marks in the carpet after I have sat on them
10. I want it for me - I'm fed up being thsi size and want a change

I could go on all night .......

This place has gone VERY quiet today... I think we are all drooping a bit and getting a bit bored.

I thought I would bring this thread to the top to remind us why we are doing all this.... anyone got any thing new to add to this thread???

For instance - I want to pass the medical to be a foster carer with flying colours!

Thanks for bringing this back up to the top Sarah, lets hope it gets everyone motivated again. I don't know about everyone else, but I feel sluggish today.

I would like to add:

I want a BMI in the healthy range instead of obese
I want to wear shorts and little tops on holiday instead of having to pack trousers and long tops to cover up my big stomach
I want to look good in a smart interview suit so I can search for a new job
