Default WOW Girls Take on the 4th of July Challenge!

Hello everyone! Time to start up our new challenge, this one will run from Monday May 14th thru July 4th.....the idea is simple...cut and pasted from last time...

As with all the previous W.O.W. challenges, the only real rule for this challenge is to BE HEALTHY. Be realistic, get enough calories, challenge yourself physically without hurting yourself. That's it!

Set yourself a reasonable, attainable weight loss goal to get to by that day. It's that easy! We will have Weekly Thread Chats, starting every Monday until the end of the challenge... we do a new one every week to avoid having to go through pages and pages of posts. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to check in as often as they like, to share whatever they like, and most importantly to give support and to get support.

We all monitor the scale differently... but a good portion of us have found success by weighing in only once a week. Please feel free to do whatever you're most comfortable with. You may choose whatever day you'd like for your weigh-in day. Whatever you choose to do, remember that successes are not ONLY measured by the numbers on the scale, but in the ways we change our lives for the better.

Women on... WHAT??

Okay, let me explain that "Women on WEED" is not what you might be thinking. During the challenges I mentioned earlier, a group of us formed a great bond, and we've been challenge buddies ever since. We use the word "WEED" as a mnemonic device to set daily goals, an easy and very specific way to remind yourself during your day to take care of your body, and to nurture your Mind, Mouth and Muscles... it really does help. After all, we are all taking this a day at a time, right?

If you join this challenge, you will see it often - and you are encouraged to give it a try. Here's what it stands for:

W - Water intake. Set a daily goal for how much water you're going to drink. Although there is conflicting research as to how much to actually consume in a day, we all agree it is important to drink lots to stay healthy. So make it a goal!

E - Exercise. Efficient, healthy weight loss isn't going to happen unless you incorporate some kind of physical activity in your life. Everyone does it differently; some go to the gym, some work out at home, and some find ways to sneak in little bits of exercise all throughout the day. Set yourself a goal, even if it's small. Little bits done often WILL add up over time!

E - Eats. Being that we all have different eating plans and weight loss philosophies, this is sort of a wild card. Whatever plan you're on, set yourself a plan-appropriate daily eating goal for the day. Don't forget to make it specific!

D - Daily goal/Daily affirmation. This is another wild card. It doesn't even have to be weight-loss related! This is the spot where you list something you want to get accomplished. Or, you can use "D" for a a daily affirmation - it's an opportunity to say something good and positive about yourself. Sometimes, when we fall short - and we ALL do sometime - we are tempted to berate ourselves. Although it's good to recognize when we don't reach our goals, it's also good to remind ourselves of the awesome parts of ourselves. So go ahead and remind yourself of that in the "D" part of WEED.

Sooooo....my goal will be 215, I think I weigh somewhere around 225 currently but THE CAST weighs at least 6-8 lbs.....the scale said 232 after they put it on! I might be okay with 220 since I'm "laid up" but I'm hoping after the cast comes off, I'll be back to my old exercise level.

Looking foreward to keeping up with my old friends and hopefully meeting some new ones! xoxoxoo Michelle

This sounds like fun! Can I join in as well?

I'd like to get to 235 by the 4th of July - 14 pounds from where I am at the moment.

Hi..I would really like to join in! I always wondered what these W.O.W. threads were about! ;p

W. I drink 64 oz. of fluids a day, mostly water, but I include things like milk with my fluid intake. I have read that drinking more than that can flush out GOOD nutrients from your body, and Lord knows I need all the good stuff

E. I am trying to excercise atleast 4 times a week, but a bare minimum of 3. I mostly do cardio, but I do some ball work for toning.

E. I am on a calorie counting diet...that's about it LOL. I try to stay between 1400-1700 for the time being so I have some wiggle room when I reach a plateau.

D. My goal for July 4th is 192 (16 pounds from my current weight). I am so excited to be approaching Onederland! I "officially" weigh in every Sunday morning.

I'm glad I wandered over this way. A challenge sounds good!

W. I drink a LOT of iced tea. Not so much in the water department, so I will start here with 3 - 8 oz glasses of water per day.

E. I try to average 30 minutes a day 4-6 days per week.

E. I am basically eating "whole foods" with reasonable portion sizes.

D. My daily goal is to learn that it is OK to be a bit hungry. For example, I can come from work at 5 and be really hungry. Dinner will be in an 1/2 to 1 hour - I need to teach myself that I won't faint if I wait that little bit of time. I can consume a LOT of calories before even eating dinner.

My goal for July 4th is 250.

Oh, cool! A challenge!! I'm up for this!!
I'm on WW and I don't drink as much as I should...

I'll make my goal as 8 pounds. A teeny bit more than one pound a week. Just becuase it seems like that's what I've been losing.

So, that would put me at 131 on July 4. Oh, that would be so cool.

GOOD LUCK everyone!

W- At least 48 oz a day.

E- At least 3 times a week for 30 minutes. cardio, yoga, anything to keep me moving and motivated

E- I'm trying to just make healthy food choices and use proper serving sizes.

D- I'd like to lose 10 lbs by the fourth of July and work on making lifestyle changes that will help me meet and stay at my goal weight.

By the way, I love the mnemonic

Hey Michelle! You know I'm in. YAY new people! Hopefully this challenge will be a lively one. Everyone's gotta post often!

I think I'm going to wait till the end of May to decide my goal for July 4. Right now, I'm just trying to get 'in the zone' so to speak.

Good morning everybody!! Hope all the moms had a great mother's day. My usually non-creative husband (and the kid's) made me breakfast in bed and then he packed us up for a picnic and a hike for the rest of the day and then out to dinner. It was very nice.

Today's WEED --

W -- As much as I can stand!!

E -- Heading to the YMCA this morning. Don't care what I do as long as I do it for at least 1 hour

E -- Time to get serious and quite the munching and then acting like it doesn't count.

D -- Get my act back together and work on losing weight, if I try at all, it comes off pretty easy!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone.
