Question about frying

  • I know you're not suppose to have fried foods in Fat Smash, But what if you fry using Pam? It dosn't have any calories or any thing like that in it.

I ask because it's impossible to boil, steam, bake or grill cubed tofu and have it still taste good. I fry my tofu with just a spray of Pam and toss my veggies in the wok too.

So what do you ladies think? Yes? No?
  • I use a little olive oil to cook my tofu in. I think that a small amount of pam would be OK.

    Sherry
  • My idea of using a little Pam or olive oil is actually sauteing, not frying. I think frying is more like when you have an inch or two of oil that you're submerging foods in or deep frying in a larger vat.

Although olive oil isn't really an allowed food on detox, it is good for you & I've learned that using a good non-stick pan with a spray of olive oil (either the newer pure olive oil sprays or using a Misto type sprayer), gives you just enough to add alittle flavor & browning without adding much oil/calories to the finished product. Once again, I try leaning towards olive oil vs. Pam depending on what I'm sauteing.
  • I had the same thought Judyo. Frying is cooking food in a pool of oil. But I just wanted to make sure, being that my Father jumped at the chance to say. "Hey! no frying!" (he's on the diet too)

I figured that because I'm just using the pam (and a bit of olive oil sometimes) to just keep the food from sticking, it's not really frying and not so bad.
  • How about using some organic vegetable broth to get the cooking/frying started?
  • good idea, Dolly!
