Yet another newbie!

  • Hi...just started reading the various threads last week and can certainly use a "support" group right now!

My weight loss has been a journey. Much like everyone else, my LIFE-CHANGE began after seeing a picture of myself. I couldn't believe my eyes! Was that REALLY me? No way!! That moment can certainly be defined as a red letter event as it prompted me to make significant changes.

I was able to lose 66 pounds over a period of time and meet my goal weight of 160. However, since that time, I've had another baby (he's almost 3 now) and the weight has been creeping back up. I work out almost 6 days a week, but I guess since I'm getting older (37 in Sept), my body chemistry has changed and everything has slowed down (like a turtle!).

I have a question for the group: Can stress/depression prohibit weight loss?

If that's the case, then that's my problem!

    Help anyone?
  • Hello and congratulations on your weight loss! Glad you decided to jump right on in here!
  • Welcome to the board!!! I look forward to getting to know you!! I don't know a lot of information on stress/depression, sorry.
  • Hello. I am also a newbie. I can understand how you feel about losing the weight and gaining it back. I had lost 40 something pounds and kept it off until I went into early menopause, then yes of course I gained like 15 + a few more back so I am now trying to reloose this weight. I swear I will to, I kind of liked wearing size 4's and I truly hate when I feel bloated like this. I have restarted my Atkins to reach my goal; anyone have any pointers?

  • Hi...I'm right there with ya. I gained in with my first baby, lost it all ...life was great. I had #2 & gain it all back...now 4 years later I am still carrying around way too much. I have heard stress/depression can be a major factor. In fact my sister suffers from depression. Her Dr. put her on Wellbutrin & said one of the side effects/benefits would be weight loss. Sure enough, since starting the med. she has lost 40lbs.
