I like to put the coffee on at least once a week

I also wanted to say that I have been following Jiff's medical stuff and she is in my thoughts and prayers. She is a lucky person as she has all of you. You are a wonderful crew!!

The coffee blend is special and teh creamers are delicous and have no carbs( This is my fantacy kitchen, the fairytale must have affected me too)

Mouse update- I was beginning to think my DH was "seeing" his little friend as I saw no signs. Then It "appeared" that the peanut butter had been licked off teh trap. Then teh trap was sprung but any carnage was upsaide down, I never saw that body HMMMM...
But any way it hasn't been seen by anyone since LOL

.... good morning, neighbour. Lovely coffee!

We got a little bit of rain here too but sure could use a couple of days of the stuff. It seems so strange to have the garden winding down a month early.

Off to bottle wine later today but this morning is pickle factory morning. Right now I have beets on the boil for pickled beets and zucchini shredded for relish. Christmas goodie baskets coming up.

By the way, DH (who never listens) brought me home a NEW SCALE yesterday. He heard me say the old one died but "forgot" I was going to go scale-free! The thought was nice but .... This one measures in kgs (which would make me a lot lighter) and also tells you your percentage of body fat! Like I need to know I am 115% fat! It is staying in the box until my next Doc appointment when I will compare to the clinic scale reading.

AdoAnnie, I thought about you yesterday. I worked the chaperone tent at my daughter's band practice from 3:00 until 5:30. Mind you, I'm in the deep south, it was 90 with 80% hubidity, in other words icky. We have over 120 band members, I would say easily that at one point or another we had 35 to 40 coming to us for being sick to their stomachs, dizzy, you name it. Lots of the kids did not bring water, many of them had not eaten since lunch (in high school lunch can start as early as 10:30.) Wish it would cool down for the poor kids sake.

I mentioned that my 18 yo decided to try low-carb. I can't get him to read the book, typical man, let someone else do it for him He came into the den last night where I was playing on the computer and said to me, "who needs bread to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich." He had a bowl with pb and jelly in it mixed together. EEEWWW I tried to explain to him, no dear, that doesn't work. If he would just read the dang book.

Managed to stay OP yesterday. I decided against the stir fry as I was concerned about my portions. It seems that I overeat that stuff cause it's "mostly veggies". The steak and shrimp with a small potato was wonderful! The kids enjoyed it so much they cleaned the kitchen! Well....most of it!

A very positive step between Stephen (ds) and DH. DH has not made Stephen move back out into the camper, so, he's occupying his old bed again! I probably get up three times during the night just to walk to their room and watch them BOTH sleeping so innocently. It's not an issue we've discussed it just sorta happened and I think DH and I both are just leaving it that way. Also, DH has asked Stephen (thru me) to do some work for him. DH has had this adult helper that he's admitted just isn't half the worker as Stephen. BIG breakthrough! I'm a bit teary just typing this as it's been seven long emotional months and our family healing is finally starting. Slowly, but it's starting.

Deb~Those poor kids. It worries me here, too. I picked youngest DS up from the high school yesterday and my heart just went out to all the band members and football players out there in that heat! A bowl of PB&J? I take it that was not his RM?

Pat~ The first thing that came to mind when I read your post was ....Jif is lucky to have US! You're part of us too! I can't imagine a day without my friends here. So much love and support no matter what we're facing day to day! Love your mouse story!

Annie~Brief football update. School and football started on Monday. Well, DS was the little super star in jr. high, Monday he didn't stay after for football and gave me a flimsy reason, I didn't push it. Tuesday, same thing. Wednesday, same. Yesterday he called for me to pick him up and I asked him why he wasn't out there practicing.....it took him until yesterday to make up his mind if he was going to play. He sheepishly admitted he was a bit intimidated cause these high school boys are so big! Seems as tho my baby had the same concerns as his worried mom! With that said, I signed the final form so he's officially in now.

Hello, ladies

Woke up feeling very, very icky today. Feels like food poisoning, but I can’t figure out what I might have eaten to cause it. I’ve been cold and clammy and queasy since rising, and am already off-program, since I stopped to buy a muffin on my way to work. Just couldn’t muster the energy to prepare nutritious things to bring with me today, and a muffin seemed like it would be a pretty innocuous thing to eat. Haven’t had one of those in ages!

Figures this would happen today – my first day kid-free! Tomorrow’s the yard sale, and I’ll probably have to pull close to an all-nighter to be ready.

Well, onward …

Sue, I don’t think the kids realize what a great opportunity is that they get to go to Italy just about every other year. They’re just visiting their grandparents as far as they are concerned. My son at 12 may realize now that he’s getting older. The best thing I think he can gain from spending the whole summer there is a better understanding of his Dad. I think this may turn out to be one of those things they appreciate more in hindsight as adults – along with the fact that their Dad speaks to them exclusively in Italian, making them (at least passively) bilingual.

Pooky, my kids have always been early risers, until pre-adolescence, that is (just like Sue said.) I find that I have to wake up at 5 a.m. if I want to get in any exercise – if I’m lucky, I’ll get in a video by the time my daughter gets up. (If not, she says “my turn” and tries to coerce me off the aerobic step.) Hopefully, Darling Angel still takes naps.

By the way, I called my son in Italy yesterday at 7 a.m. my time – 1 pm his time, and his aunt had to wake him up to talk to me! Guess he’s having a good time with his cousins at night.

Tracey, what did you decide about low-carbing? Have you been able to get out with the babies?

Ruth, excuse me but, how can a scale tell you % of body fat? That reminds me of those exercise bikes or skiers or treadmills that tell you how many calories you’ve burned! How can they do that? They’d need to “know” too much about you. (weight, height, physical condition, etc.) This seems like just another gadget better at wounding our motivation than anything it was supposedly meant to do.

J – in my family, the sport of choice is soccer, not football. My son has been playing year-round, practically since he could walk. But every two years, when he’s bumped up to the next age group, we go through the same thing: The players look so big! Fortunately, size isn’t as important a factor soccer. He’s pretty fast, and usually rises to the challenge.

OK, got to get to work, and hopefully get over the queasies. Have good days, everyone.

Have you ever tried Emetrol for tummy upsets? Came highly recommended by the boys doc and it's all we use anymore. I've found if you take the first dose, you may "lose" your stomach shortly after, then repeat the dose and the queazies are gone. Just a suggestion. Hope you feel better soon!

Debbie, I got a kick out of the bowl of bp&j! It reminded me of when my step son was 18. He would eat ice cream out of a half gallon container and I would ask him if he needed a bowl and he said, 'why? I am going to finish it!" Bet he doesn't do that any more with his new wifey-poo!!!!

Ruth, can I come with you to bottle wine? I'll even bring my own, wrapped in a brown paper bag.

I had a busy day at work and loved it. I did not plan for eating but hae managed fairly well so far. I do have some challenges for tonight as the pizza is sitting on the counter.

Barb the scales send out and read electrical impulses you should not do it if you are pregnant or have a pacemaker otherwise it is basically nothing to it. it asks for your age/sex/hight it is best used for a reference as it still has a degree of inacurace. mine reads high from the reading i had done at the gym with a machine but it is good for a baseline. I hope that your tummy is feeling better. when i was 8 i went to italy and really did not appreciate what i was doing, if only ....

It's weekend time finally. It was a pretty good week, and it's nice to be home to relax and enjoy the time home.

Doing OK, pretty much OP, but up in the scale today. I think if I add some roughage and water, I may do better tomorrow or the next day! If you know what I mean!

Better go act wifely and think about some supper.

Here I was going to come here to release my frustration cuz DH found out his eye surgery was NOT succesful and need to have another one next week or as soon as they can schedule it and it may be out of town.....I was feeling pretty low and despondent AND THEN......I got online and was reading through the boards, went thru the menu thread and it go me laughing so hard I totally forgot what I was upset about.......

Looks like I'm the last one in again. Guess that makes me the rotten egg.
This morning I went to my WW meeting and discovered I've lost another 3 pounds. Yippee! I was feeling a little thinner but when you're as large as I am, it's not really noticeable. Still, I'll take it and not complain. So happy that this woe seems to be working for me. That makes a total of 13 lb. in 9 weeks.

Went out to lunch with an old friend from out of town. She's a year younger than I and a widow. All in a tizzy because she has a new man in her life. Just glad to see her so happy after all she's been through (loss of her hubby at age 60 and her own open heart surgery). Wish I felt like 16 again like she does. (sigh)

Tried a new recipe last night and liked it so much I made it again tonight. Not for you strict Atkins Chicks but CALPers could have it as a reward meal. I'll try to remember to post it in the recipe section. It's pasta with fresh tomatoes. I'd never thought of having pasta without a cooked sauce but this is really yummy. I may have it again tomorrow.
