Leslie Sansone videos

  • Has anyone ever used the Leslie Sansone walking videos? Are the fun? Boring? Most importantly, did they ever help any of you lose weight? I just wonder how they compare to plain old walking. I am getting bored on my daily walk and just wandered if anyone had any comments. Thanks in advance.
  • I have her 2 mile walk video, and although I am not currently using it, there was a time when I did use it regularily. It is a nice workout when you can't get outside to walk... it is a funked up version of walking and low impact. Good for people starting out too, because you can raise or lower the intensity in the way you move. I recommend it if you are looking for something new!
  • I have Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away the Pounds" tapes. There are three of them, a one mile, a two mile and a three mile. They also came with (2) two-pound weighted balls that are used for upper body toning in all three tapes.

I JUST LOVE THESE TAPES! I have been using them for about a month and have dropped about five pounds.
  • I just wondered if they were on the "boring" side, lol. Do you have a preference of miles 1,2 or 3? I was thinking of just getting the two mile tape. What about the balls, is it necessary to use them? I may be able to only get the tape by itself. Thanks for the info.
  • I just ordered the tapes with the ball but they can't send them til Sept I have been doing Tae Bo Gold but it is too hot to do now I'm not as young as I used to be. I am looking forward to trying something new
  • I use some of Leslie's older walk-aerobics tapes. They aren't dull exactly but she uses the same moves in each of the three videos I have over and over so you do get rather used to the movement quickly. This is excellent if you are either (a) just starting out or (b) clumsy like I am.

I also really enjoy Susan Powter's workout videos. I don't consider her tapes to be beginner tapes (though she's very good at reminding you that its absolutely okay to march in place if you don't get a move or if you are out of breath). Not as much repetition between tapes with her videos, I find. She has an excellent strength training video -- active warm up and cool down, plus 40 minutes or so of upper and lower body strength exercises.
  • I have the Walk Away the Pounds system and I really like it. I ordered mine from QVC(cheaper than the infomercial) so mine also came with a bonus toning tape. I love using the weighted balls and feel like I am getting a good workout. I have done the 1 mile and 2 mile tapes but haven't tried the 3 mile one yet. I plan to do that one this week. They are fun and the time goes by quickly.
  • I've done her Two-Mile walk for about six months now. This is the one with a meter at the bottom that shows you how far you've walked. It takes about 30 minutes, which is a great pace for a two-mile walk. I later went outside and tried walking two miles in 30 minutes and found I was able to do it if I really hustled.

The video is very straightforward; extremely easy to learn. The music is dull but effective. When you want a workout that you don't have to spend time learning (this is not a dance routine; there's a lot of marching and grapevines and knee lifts and lunges), this is a good one.

My personal peeve is Leslie's style, though many find it motivating. She's very, very perky -- lots of giggling and chatting, and -- what really drives me nuts -- she counts every single move you make. But a lot of people love her. I just like the workout. It's a great way to get a good 30 minutes of intermediate-level exercise.
