Just curious

  • When I go back to Indiana in March, I plan on joining WW with a friend. I've never done WW before. I was just curious...how many points do you usually get? Can you give me a couple of examples of the things you eat on the plan? Also, I know everybody is different but what is your average weight loss a week on it...I mean after the intial water weight?

I'm so excited about joining, just wanted to know a little info. Thanks!
  • The points you get depends on your weight. It is based on Basal Metabolic Rate. It is also a copyright thus we cannot legally give you points for your height.

Additionally on the program you get FlexPoints (a set number each week) in which to supplement your daily points.

You can also earn points with activity/exercise.

Average loss on program is .5-2 pounds a week (both arms --- Core and Flex).

I eat anything I want. The other night I had a Sour Dough Jack from Jack in the Box. Today I had grilled chicken. W/W isn't really about you can have this or that but more how to learn portion control, planning and enjoying. However if you eat healthier you get more food than if you ate junk.

For example a 'candy bar' may be 6 points but for that 6 points you could get almost a full meal with healthy foods.
  • WW cookbook gives info
I just bought it last WE -- I think it's the "Complete" cookbook, spiral-bound. It doesn't give the same Points values in a grid as contained in the official booklets you are given at meetings, but it does give a range and has further info on the plan. I've always found it's very valuable to have WW cookbooks anyhow. Takes a lot of guesswork out of things.
  • Everyone is different, but I found that I eat the same exact things I did before starting WW. I've always eaten "healthy" - regular oatmeal, fruit, cereal, etc. because it helped with my running. The one thing I no longer have in my pantry is peanuts (love cracking and eating shelled peanuts). I got rid of these, not because they are off limits on WW, but because I feel they have too high of a point value. This goes back to the eating healthier things means getting more food as Kelly mentions in her post.

The main difference for me is the portion sizes. I now measure out my cereal & milk as opposed to just pouring them in the bowl.
  • Thanks for the info everbody! It's much appreciated.
