Ruth - good morning! Sounds like me - we turned in around 9:30 or so last night, and I was up around 1:30. I swear my body doesn't know what to do with sleep anymore! Except that it always seems to remember just at the most inconvenient times!
Schatzi - looks like a variety of stag beetle? I could see how one o' those might be a little startling galloping out from the woodpile at you! If that's what it is, I think they are detritous eaters - pretty much harmless, unless you are a piece of rotting wood!
Soon - tell us about your new boss when you get a chance! I want to know how it's going!
As usual, I have a full plate (not of food!) today: I have to finish my Geology unit 1 assignment, which was divided into 3 parts (the first part was due Saturday). I need to review someone else's part A for my part B, then my part C involves observing something (can be pretty much anything, I think), then formulating a minimum of 20 questions based on my observations, then selecting one question, formulating several hypotheses for that question to answer it, and then predicting what might happen should each hypothesis prove correct. Basically, it's an exercise in scientific method and thinking. It won't be difficult, but it may be time consuming.
I also need to finish my readings for both geology and social psych, and finish responding to the posts due yesterday (I have to respond to a minumum of three in a substantial manner by friday morning).
I would like to get a start on my geology homework, if I manage to finish all the above with time leftover.
And the living room has been hit by Hurricane Alex, suffering widespread, but superficial, damages as a result - clean up needs to commence asap as this particular "hurricane" is notorious for his encores!
And of course, there is always laundry to wash/fold/put away and dishes to do!
Oh - before I space - I made one of the dump chicken recipes last night - it was quite tasty! It was for "Peachy Dump Chicken." It was
mostly OP for phase 2/3. It did have OJ and a wee bit of honey in the sauce, but most of that didn't get eaten anway - it just flavored the chicken while it cooked. The sauce also had chopped peaches, ginger, soy sauce, and orange zest - if anyone's interested, I can post it in the recipe forum. We ate the cooked peaches, but left most of the juices behind. I cooked broccoli with it, and as a treat to my poor, tired, recovering-from-illness DH, I made biscuits (replacing half of the flour with ww pastry flour so they wouldn't be
quite so bad). All in all, it was pretty yummy. I had planned to make a salad, too, but now
I'm coming down with whatever and I just didn't have the energy.
