  • I hate exercise. (Don't we all?)

I'm trying to get myself to actually do it! And as a way of motivating me, my husband bought me an MP3 player, so I could listen to ANYTHING while I exercise!

    I've tried up-beat music. I even tried a podcast.

I'm curious what you listen to while you're working out!
  • All Beegees, all the time
"You Win Again" is exactly the right beat for me to run to (for a short stint)
  • I listen to audio books. Depending on which MP3 player you got will depend on comadability.

Very adictive and I love that it is something fresh every time.

  • I listen to audiobooks (I'll second the link for audible.com - it's great) when I'm lifting weights, but when I'm doing cardio, I need music! I am a country music lover (don't throw things at me) and I've downloaded a bunch of my favorite stuff to my MP3 and just select enough for the time I've allotted for the day. I always included one or two slower songs for the warm-up and cool-down. I know my player will hold playlists, and sometime I need to find the time to learn how. For now, though I get a new mix every time and that works well too.
  • Pat, what are you listening to I just finished Company man, love Scott Brick. about to start Hot Plastic and Mary, mary.
  • I went to the library today to check out an audiobook! So tomorrow I'll walk listening to it!!

I used to listen to these all the time when I was driving back and fourth from college to home! I can't believe I never thought to listen while walking!
  • I listen to music during my cardio workout. One of my new favorites is Beyonce's Check it out. It definitely gets me moving!
  • I have the most bizarre assortment of music on my MP3 player, Guns n Roses, Charlotte Church, Peter Gabriel, Bodyrockers, White Stripes, Chemical Brothers, Chicane, Faithless.

What's really bizarre is that my non-exercising music is completely different, Austrlian Country, Folk, some Australian Rock, more music with stories, I never thought I'd be into dancey stuff and heavy stuff, weird! But then I always new I was weird!!!
  • L144S -

I just finished Behind the Scenes at the Museum by Kate Atkinson, which I LOVED ! I've just started (like 10 minutes into it) 1776 by David McCullough, and I also have Lighthouse by P.D. James downloaded. I considered Mary Mary, but he sometimes gets so graphic - when I read it I can skim, listening may be too intense.
  • I also have a bizarre assortment on my MP3. I especially enjoy Madonna and Alanis Morisette!
  • I hear some good music on the radio someimes but never get to find out what it is so I can get it. I like hearing good trance and some rap but with a hip hop sound. That single like Chamillionare's songs is what I am referring to. It just has a good strong bass to keep me going. I like the Beegess too but only the disco stuff that isn't a love song type for workouts. Prodigy is okay but can get boring. The song I like now is Satisfaction by Benny that plays on the Wendy's commercial.
  • try cardio coach! I love it and you might too. There was an article about it today in the New York Times

    I find is sooo motivating

  • Canned Heat by Jamiroquoi.

oh MAN does it get me moving.

that and I usually listen to Daft Punk's Discovery album. Its got an insanely catchy beat and the song "harder faster stronger" always motivates me. I've been known to start dancing on the elliptical. though only when alone.

oh and "Feel Good Inc by the Gorillaz"

I dont listen to audiobooks because i study while i exercise, i'm a college student and time is scarce
  • Right this second it's "Feel Good" by Gorillaz. It changes all the time though.
  • Oh my gosh I totally didn't read the post above. Obviously calliecat and I have the same taste in music! I like Daft Punk too!
