Thursday!

  • Hi everyone!
I actually have a free moment this morning before the kids wake up. They are being sleepy heads! Did a lot of yard work the last two days! It's finally taking shape! I'm taking the kids to a park today for a hike. It looks like it'll be a nice day so we are taking advantage of it! You have to in England! lol
I have come to rely on this site since starting this journey. And I believe it really helps if you make small goals for yourself. I've always looked at the big picture and that was too overwhelming! (And that was when I didn't have so much to lose). Does anyone have any small goals they would like to share? I would like to be down to around 225 lbs. by the middle of August. I have about 13 to go and I think I'll do it. We also did something in my chapter with our husbands or loved ones help. We chose an amount of weight to lose by the first WI in September and our husband or loved one wrote a pledge for us and sealed it! It seems like a great incentive to work for. When or if we lose the weight, we open the envelope!
Hope everyone has a great day! Keep on losing!!

  • Shelly- You are doing really good.making mini goals is the way to go.You are a good reminder that TOPS is international.I think we forget how far TOPS reaches sometimes.
My mini goal now is to just not gain and be happy with a tiny loss
Donna--You are not alone.I have yoyo'd as much as fifty pounds and I am almost where I started at 3 years ago.I do seem to be able to get it stopped before it exceeds but it is frustrating.I really thought once I got off swing shifts i would lose weight lickity split.Foolish me. But if I give up it will go completely straight up and I can't do that.Any heavier than this and I have trouble breathing.I hate to think of effect on my heart. All this should be incentive to lose. But it doesn't seem to be.Nor does all the other bad things associated with being overweight. But I keep hoping I will get the right system to get me to do this.Because I am the only one that can do it.It's is up to me.
have to go to work.have a great day
  • Shelly....love your idea for the pledges and the sealed envelopes. I would like to try that idea on my DH and see if it would help him lose a few pounds. I could put a gift certificate for a massage in it.

Eleni......have your heard of the "Wendie Plan"? I read about it on another board. That lady could not lose her weight either, so she looked back at her journal to the time when she did lose weight and what she was doing then. She came up with a plan to get her metabolism burning again. She is on weight watchers point system and started eating minimum points one day and maximum points another day and on the fifth day went over her maximum points by 6 or 8 points and the next day down to minimum again, etc. and started losing again.
I have a lot of trouble yo-yoing and not getting anywhere. And it does get very discouraging, so I'm going to give this plan a 2 week trial. Will let everyone know if it works for me.

  • Hi Nita,

I have a weight watchers buddy that I keep in touch with. She has continued the plan but I have strayed. I am back on it today. She has been doing the wendi plan for 2 weeks. She had weigh in yesterday so I haven't heard from her yet. But it is really working. She had to make the points fit for her schedule but she is mixing them up and it is working. That way your body doesn't get used to the same amount of calories in a day so it won't hit a plateau. Dottie from her site said she mixed up her points everyday also and that kept her from hitting a plateau. So I think it is great.
Even though I am back to counting points I am still keeping track of my sugar and salt. I think it is important to have all the components together. That way you are making sure you are doing it in a healthy way. And just maybe I will lose this weight once and for all.

I will try the wendie plan myself. This week would be a great week for it seeing that I have a graduation and a wedding on saturday and we are spending the day at an amuesement park on sunday and having a cookout here on wednesday for the 4th of july. So it is going to be a hard week food wise for me. At least for the weekend. It is going to be impossible to stay on plan all weekend this week. But monday I will eat low points and hope for the best.

    Eleni,

Keep trying. I am with you. The scale is almost back to where it started for me as well. I am hoping for a loss tonight. I ate enough bland food all week to warrant a loss that is for sure. Christie and I have been suffering through the week. Now we have mrs. dash and we are set for another week of low sodium.LOL Good luck with weigh in tonight. Let me know how it goes.

    Shelly,

You are right about mini goals. We had a goal thread going for awhile but it has faded. People weren't doing so well on their plans so we haven't done it. Maybe now is a great time to start it back up again.
The goals we would post couldn't be weight related. It had to be something that would make you reach your goal. Something that you should be doing and just don't. Like no junk food after a certain hour someone did. To drink all your water for the day, to exercise so many days a week. That kind of thing. That way people had more self esteem when they completed the goals for the week and they felt good that they had made it. So that got them closer to their goals by doing healthy things for themselves.

I am having a good day. I had a grilled cheese sandwich today but only 1 slice of ff cheese because of the sodium. It didn't do anything for me. I am still hungry. I am going to go and drink the rest of my water and see what that does for me. I had grapes also.

Good luck with weigh in tonight for those that have it. And for those that got weighed in already this week. Keep up the great attitude and stay on plan. We can do this together.

  • Hi Ladies! It's me..... I am still around. I am on my "monthly cycle" so I feel really bloated today. I have still been ok but not doing great. You know how it is to have so much on your plate and then food too.......lol

    Good luck tonight! Penny
  • Hi Everyone,

Well I finally did it. I lost 1/2 lb tonight. I was so happy. It isn't much but the way I have been gaining I hope it is a new cycle of the scale going down. I am going to keep the scale in the closet this week also. It is so funny I cheat and have brownie sundeas and I lose weight. I eat right on plan and don't cheat and I gain weight. Go figure. Oh well maybe that is gods way of telling me this doesn't have to be so hard. That I can still have a treat during the week and still lose. I really think putting the scale away and not looking at it helps my frame of mind some.

I am not looking forward to a loss this week with the weekend I have planned. A wedding and a graduation party on saturday and then the amusement park on sunday. Not a good food weekend for sure. But I am going to make it a point to do extra exercise this week to help make up for it. I hope it works. I am going to watch the food intake and the sodium this week on the days that I am on plan. I will only be on plan for 3 days this week. So that isn't good. But I will be fine.

Hope everyone had a great weigh in tonight.

  • I had a 2# gain.Could have been a lot worse. What is done is done.Hopefully next week will be better.
  • Well Well
Looks like after all my efforts I stand here tonight with a 1 pound gain....SO I am out of lee way and am just kinda disgusted
    OH WELL RIGHT????
I have tried so hard and worked many hours preparing tasteless food ... BUT I am an inch smaller around the waist so I am not gonna quit just because the lowsy stinking scale was a pound higher I guess you could say it is just a temperary set back and I will just have to deal with it...and as My husband always says...Suck it UP

Congrats to all of you who have lost this week and know we are all SO VERY proud of you!!!

And to those of us who didnt......
Lets just stick together and make the next weigh in better K!!
