pudding on phase 1

  • Is jello s/f pudding allowed on phase 1?
  • No, Sorry dear. Not until Phase 2.
  • There is too much cornstarch in it. You could make an egg custard if you wanted to go to the trouble. I am planning to experiment with sf Jello (not the pudding) and ff sf vanilla yoghurt. I also know you can make Jello with milk instead of water which might suit your cravings.
  • Oops. I just ate an entire box of jello pudding for dessert , assuming it was in the s/f category. Knew it was too good...
  • Ruth, I made the best snack with sf jello and yogurt yesterday. I put about a tsp of sf rasberry jello, 3/4 C yogurt, and 1 T sf strawberry preserves, added splenda and ate it. I tasted better than the fruit flavored yogurt in the store with all the chemicals in it. It's yummy and I'm having it for b'fast tomorrow. I'm double checking the food list to make sure the sf preserves are OK now for P1 and if so I'm gonna put it in the recipe section.....I bet it'd make a good protein shake/smoothie!! Hmmm! The ideas are flowing now!!
  • Pear, unfortunately the preserves are made with fruit, so you can't have them in P1. You *can* have SF syrups with fruit flavorings though, and that might work! Maybe you could thicken some fruit-flavored SF syrup with some arrowroot in a pan over heat? That might be good!

I've heard that SF jello with cottage cheese is delicious. I also love cottage cheese with splenda, cinnamon, and ground flax seed in P1. It's really yummy and reminds me of tapioca pudding. But maybe that's because I put cinnamon on my SF tapioca pudding (in P2)?
  • Oh, I checked to revised P1 food list and it was under the 75 calories a day of sweet treats. Is that a mistake?
