50 and Stopped Smoking !

  • I quit smoking one and a half years ago and recently turned 50. On my birthday the first thing that came to mind was ... enough is enough ! I joined WW and have never looked back. I hope to lose 40 pounds.

I love reading all the posts and admire all those who have done so well. When I start "feeling sorry" for myself I just think about all the posts I have read and how great all these people have done with weights much higher than mine.

Keep up the good work everybody !

  • Congratulations FatKat on both your decisions to better your health. I made the decision 2 1/2 years ago to join WW and lost a total of 102 lbs! Now I need to work on my second vice...the smoking. I know I need to quit, and the prices keep going up.....but.....even if I can include that three-letter word, must mean I'm not ready yet. Soon I hope!

Best of luck to you in your journey!

  • Good job! I quit smoking 2-1/2 years ago. Like Lynn N, I've had some struggles with my weight since, but I know that if I could quit smoking (toughest thing I ever did!) I can loose the weight, too. With the help of WW, I'm back OP, and on my way!

FatKat50, I know that you can do it, too! Good luck!
  • FatKat50,
Good for you. Congrats on making such a wise decision and lots of luck accomplishing it. Glad you like this site. Isn't it great? Very inspirational.

  • Congrats on your decision. I stopped smoking about 9 years ago because I didn't like the morning breath and the hacking. Also, almost everyone I knew did not smoke and they let me know how unpleasant the smell of the smoke was to them. I always thought they were pains in the ***, but now that I no longer smoke I understand exactly.

It took me a lot longer to get smart about eating properly and losing weight. Hopefully, this will be the last time I will have to do this.

Best of luck to you on both ventures.
