Tuesday Chat 11/2

  • So I managed to make it through the FIRST day of being back OP. The only thing not on "induction" was the sunflower seeds. Not that I'm planning on doing "strict" induction. Just mainly induction type stuff. Which is what my normal menu consists of. So we'll see how well I do

Did you all notice this really cute new smiley? I never noticed it before!!!

Today oldest daughter gets braces. There goes our spare money
  • Forgot to mention: Those halloween costumes were cute!!!
  • Hi Ladies,

Brenda for your first day of being OP. I was a good girl yesterday too, I even walked for 40 minutes, can you imagine.

Today I will be good !!!!

    Hope everyone is voting today

I need to run to BJ's today at lunch time. I really need to start taking my vitamins again and concentrating on getting enuf calcium. I read this huge article in the paper a few weeks ago saying that when you hit the age of 40, thats when you really need to be careful and start taking care of your body. I guess 40's the magic age when things fall apart Well it said that calcium is sooooooooo important because most women, and its true, do not get enuf by foods alone. The only calcium I get is from my coffee (cream). So I'm gonna get some calcium chews and start taking care of myself.

Tomorrow and the next day we have the biggie boss' here ICK! so I will be laying low.... #)%&#%&&%!_&%!!!!!!

How's everyone this beautiful Tuesday ?
  • Good for you Brenda!...you know, read page 93 of the yellow book under "rules of the induction diet" Rule number 5 says that using a gram counter you could make up other combinations that would equal 20 grams...he then goes on to list what you could use and nuts and seeds are in there!
unless he has a newer version of the book that says no, then nuts ARE something you could use...

Leenie- Can we get the november equator trek up ohpleaseohpleaseohplease?...I've got miles to record...and my memories not so good these days
  • Hi Marie !!

Sure, I'll stick the November equator as soon as some one makes one (or do I just not see it).

  • GGGGRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I am not a happy camper today. DH and I had another "discussion" about what the heck we are going to do for money if he shuts down his business. I am freakin out......I don't know which hole he thinks the money is going to come out of but all the holes on this girl are busy!!!!! I did a budget plan for my income this morning and the left over isn't going to be pretty! I hate to sound like a spoiled brat but CRAP! At my age I just didn't bargain for this. I can't seem to make him THINK! He says it will all work out....GGGRRRRRrrrrrr
I hate that.....THINK OF A FREAKIN PLAN WILL YA!
So I just drowned my sorrows in a snack size bag of Cheez-It's. Ya! Like that's going to help

    WWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    ok.................

Brenda: Glad you stayed OP yesterday. Just take it one day at a time like your avatar says. And you are right....even dieters need a day off.

Leenie: Calcium, calcium, calcium!!! You need it...take it! I am very faithful in taking my multi plus a calcium everyday. God knows if it makes a difference but I guess it can't hurt I voted first thing this am btw!

Marie: You can start the Equator Trek thread if you want. If I don't see one when I am done here I will create it if you want.

Well this EXTREMELY grumpy person is going to go get to work.
  • I created the November Equator Trek thread.
  • Good morning chiquitas!!

Well I had an up and down day yesterday, but I feel good and I am still trudging along!! I feel refreshed like now that i have come to terms with I am doing this for ME and no one else and it is not a race it is alot easier! Whaaahoo!! Gym today! I am looking forward to it!

So happy that election day is here!! Everyone get your ballots in it is VERY important!!

B- I am so proud of you!! And your post yesterday was very good!!!

Jina- Your costume is so cute and you look great!!

Jane- AAHHHHH money things are always the worst!! Hope it gets better soon!

    HI Marie!!!

    YEAH LEEINE!!! Great job yesterday!!!
  • I went to vote this am, the line was so long I was concerned we would miss my daughter's bus. I also have a sore throat so after I do my site visit, I plan to go vote and then go home. Never missed an election yet, not missing this one either.

I am assuming my sore throat is the same one that everyone else at the office has had, great. How many carbs in the Cepacol Sore Throat lozenges?? I bought the ones for post nasal drip instead of sugar free, I need the drugs even at the expense of the carbs today. I also bought the sugar free throat spray, I am hitting this thing with both barrels.

Great food plan yesterday, stayed on track and came out with exactly 20 carbs and over 100 ounces of water. A very good first day of induction. Needless to say the candy just doesn't interest me.

MARIE - I am with you, needing a magnifying glass to read the medicine bottles. What is up with that?? Idiot teenagers can turn into idiot adults if they aren't called to account soon enough, good for you, they should keep their hands of things that don't belong to them.

LEENIE - Yup the ribs are Atkins all the way, the sauce is a concoction I got off of their site, the sugar free jam, BBQ sauce tossed in together and set on low for 8 or more hours for 4+ pounds of ribs, making up some LC cole slaw to go with it and it doesn't matter when anyone gets home, dinner is ready. I have 4 or maybe 5 crockpots, so i use them a lot. Get your vitamins, very important, especially the calicum.

JANE - Did you knit or sew the dog coat?? It is too cute and I can tell the dog really likes the attention.

BRENDA - When I ate candy I loved Mary Jane's. I gave the teenagers the baby lollipops, figured they acted like they were the terrible twos. I often just do plain old meat in the crockpot adding brocoli or cauliflower (both of which I love) at the last minute. I also slowcook roasts in a tomato/wine sauce, I can't remember where I lifted that recipe from.

I much prefer the LC eating, I don't get that packed stomach feeling, I am not really starving and the low blood sugar episodes disappear. I don't sink so far in between eating or feel starved first thing in the am.

Planning on a sensible Atkins-ese lunch, two coworkers are also on Atkins, so I tend to follow their leads.
  • Good Morning all!

Thought I would check in again!

I am doing much better.. No more percoset until mid afternoon these days! I am eating solid foods, but I am waiting a week more before I go back to induction. The doc wants me to eat lots of fruit to get the "movement going". So apples and pears have been my friends lately!

I am walking a lot although most of it in my house as it is raining here with flood warnings! My post-op is on the 9th so I will have more info then, but over all I am feeling much better and more like my self every day!

I cant sit for much longer so I cannot get too personal! Just wanted to check in and say hi! Hope all are well!
  • KAREN - How about some raisins?? Those should move you along

Feeling crappy but on plan foodwise, the walking this afternoon was a washout. I did get to vote, no line at 2:30.

Now my stomach is upset, probably from the throat spray, so I took some tums, those probably are loaded with sugar but I have never been able to figure it out, anybody??
  • Tums have 1 carb each ( crazy huh!) thats why I switched to that ratinodine (sp?) or like zantac...takes a little longer but no carbs
