Hello. I am a newbie

  • Hi:
My name is Sharon and I am going to start WW. I have read other posts and I feel the same, I am not a meetings kind of person so want to try to do this at home/online. I have found all kinds of valuable info already and am very excited. Is there some kind of points calculator online somewhere to tell me the food points values (like eggs, bagels, fruits..etc) or is that information available only if I sign up online w/WW?

Look forward to my weight loss!
  • I don't think anyone can say they are doing any program - WW, SBD, Atkins - if they never get the information and read it all. You should go to at least one meeting and you will get the points calculator and infor you need to get started properly. You can also get this stuff on eBay. By the way, do you know that in study after study it has been proven that people who attend meetings are able to lose and keep the weight off more than those who don't? The support here is fantastic.
  • You can order the WW at home kit - it has all the booklets, a points calculator and some other useful items. I am not sure how much they are as I live in Canada but you may want to visit the WW official site to see what your options are.

There is a thread here for people who do WW on-line and at home. I am sure they will be happy to answer any questions you have about getting the kit and doing ww at home and can be a part of your support system since you are not attending meetings. I don't post there myself but they seem like a nice group of people.

Good luck with your weight loss
  • I started ww 8 weeks ago and I have lost 20 lbs. I am very pleased with the meetings and I walk every other day. I find it very easy to stick with as you make your own decisions on what you want for the day as long as you stay in the point range. Good luck. I feel so much better too.
