good afternoon all! after returning from leave late last week, i've been sick the whole time. finally went to dr and found out through sinus xray that i have a sinus infection. so the dr didn't wait to get the throat culture or blood work results to get the antibiotics started. hopefully, the fever will diminish, and i'll be feeling better soon. while in adana, in southern turkey, we were able to visit tarsus and antokia (antioch from biblical times). in tarsus, we were able to visit st paul's well, as well as a spot once occupied/used by paul. they designated it as a church. we were able to see some of the original stone work there. there was also a small museum there. it was interesting to my husband and me, as christians, that the write up about paul in that museum, described him as being forgotten and rarely even being known today. it went on to say that he is mostly defended today by catholic christians. it was just odd to us because so much of the new testament is filled with information about paul's missionary journeys. tarsus was his birthplace. we had gone to antokya to visit st peter's church. unfortunately, the day we went was the only day of the week that the churck was closed. so, we'll have to make another trip down there to see it, as well as the musuem in town. our dd was able to play mini golf and bowl for the very first time while we stayed at the base down there. she didn't want to leave. she kept telling me, "momma, did you hear them? they speak english too" while we were on base. we do not have a base to live on here. we are the only americans in our neighborhood. all in all our leave time was very relaxing and enjoyable. i just decided yesterday for dd and i to make one final trip to the states to visit supersized (my identical twin for those who don't already know) and other sister, mom, and nephew. my dd will start kindergarten in september. so, we are trying to cram lots of trips in this summer. she will get to celebrate her 5th birthday in switzerland. she is excited about that too. now since i have written a book, it probably won't go through. eating wise, i am ok. i was up 9 lbs from vacation, but have it down to a 3 lb overage today. i seem to sabotage myself over and over. i should have been at goal by now, but seem to take off more than i should. oh well, at least i am still down 35 from early september. my turkish dr told me tuesday that i was losing weight and asked me how. so, my dh and i told him about atkins and how he had dropped 40 and me 35. he told me that after he returns from belgium next week, that he will have to look into it. wow. he had never heard of atkins before. so, i may take my book in for him to read. i'd better get off for now. i don't have a clue about what all is going on with whom. weather is getting nice here. gas is high. we pay about $2.42 a gallon, i think. we are able to get gas coupons to help. most turks are playing between $4 and $6 a gallon. of course this was calculated from litres to gallon and lira to dollar before the lira went up a couple of days ago. ok, enough. i need to start planning for supper. have a great day all!
