Talkative Tuesday

  • BBIAM.
  • Good Morning Girlfriends!

This place has been slow lately. Let's burn up the board today!

Was down 2.8lbs at WI last night. Woo-hoo! Finally, some movement on the scale as well as in how my clothing fits.

Got in a great work-out this morning. We were packing the apartment last night so I had to use the gym at work this morning. I did 3 miles on the treadmill evenly splitting the walking and running and then did a mile on the bike. I finished up with a bunch of ab work and some serious lower body stretching. I feel great!

Not much else to report. Just finished an incredibly interesting book called Darwin's Children. It was the sequel to Darwin's Radio. Both books deal with the next step in humaniod evolution. (Homo erectus evolved to Homo Sapien.....Homo Sapien evolves to ??????). These books are more thinking books than shear entertainment. The author is Greg Bear.

Does anyone else have a good read to share?

I gotta go back to quick reply. I'm a little smiley happy.

    Later,
  • Back to work
    hey All,

Back to work today for us Canadians who had our thanksgiving this weekend! I went to my parents on Sunday for Thanksgiving dinner which was nice. I mostly just hung around with the bf for the rest of the weekend which was also nice.

Anyway, I am thinking about getting involved in community theatre for the winter... I will know no one, but who cares eh?

Laura: Congrats on the 2.8lbs down, it does show eventually... wow you're in an ulytra smiley mood. I am glad your situation seems to be improving!

    Take care!

  • Hey all, I was gone working on our conference the end of last week, and then yesterday hubby and I took off. It was nice, but he was sick. We did a lot of cleaning and went shopping without the kids for groceries and stuff. I still have so much to do around the house tho. Just no time.

I haven't been to the gym in what feels like eons. I did, however, wear the khakis to my pics on saturday. They zipped. A little snug, but they zipped. The pictures were not good. I didn't like them at all. The one of the girls turned out nice tho. You can't even see my pants in the pic. Figures!!! She was not good at posing us and I was not pleased. Tho I am heavier than I would like, so maybe that has something to do with it!

Oh well, lots of work to catch up on, and don't really feel like it!
  • Hi Ladies.
Jen, how nice that you and hubby had a day together -- what fun!

Ali, I love community theater and did it every chance I got before I had Aaron. It's a really good way to meet people, too.

Laura, I bet you got quite a workout just doing the moving, but I'm proud of you for getting to the gym this morning!

I just finished reading The Lovely Bones and The Devil Wears Prada. The Lovely Bones is very deep and thinking, and The Devil Wears Prada is just plain funny and sheer entertainment. So there's two reads, depending on if you want to think or not. Both were excellent, I think.

Aaron's daycare provider is sick today (poor lady has the stomach flu) so Aaron will be going into work with me while I prep for my classes. Drew will come to get him 15 minutes before the kiddos arrive and will drop him off again as they are leaving. I still have to figure out what to do with him tonight while we are both in class, but hopefully something will work out. I missed my class last week because of Aaron being sick, and Drew has a presentation tonight worth 75% of his grade...so neither of us dares miss class! Poor Aaron -- I hope he doesn't feel too shuffled around.

This weekend Drew's mom and her husband are coming for a visit. Most of us around here know how I feel about my mother-in-law. She's just done and said so many things to Drew that I can never forgive. Of course, the things she's done and said to me don't help. But it's always kind of a strain to be sweet and nice whenI feel like being *****y and sarcastic to her the whole time. Any suggestions on how I can change my attitude in three days?

See you chicas in a bit!
  • Hey Ladies
I'm going to WW on thursday I convinced my roomie to go with me. Right now I'm reading harry potter and the order of the phoenix. lots a stress right now I won't bore you guys with the details
  • Ali - Was your BF able to join you at your parents for Thanksgiving? Community Theatre sounds like fun - you should go for it.

JenL - focus on the positive - the kahki's zipped! woo-hoo! Pat yourself on the back!

Jayne - I must read the 2nd book you mentioned if only because the title is excellent. Hope you find a good sitter for Aaron for tonight. I'm sure one day of shuffle won't upset him too much. I'm not as nice as you on the MIL thing. I say hit her over the head with a brick and lock her in the closet. But then, that's my solution for all nasty people. Sorry I'm no help - I avoid CB's mother as much as humanly possible.

Kier Dahling- glad to see you pop in. Glad you've got your roomie to support you by joining WW together. Sorry your stressed! Drink heavily. It might help......and it can't hurt....except for the hangover!
  • Kier, how is the latest Harry (or should I call him what Drew calls him -- Harry Potty)? I haven't read that one yet...Any progress on that tenative IBS diagnosis? They have brand new meds for that, hopefully they can help you feel human a little bit more. You've been sick so much, and this is a time in your life when you should be having fun concentrating on planning your wedding and graduating from school, not being sick...

Laura, The Devil Wears Prada does have the greatest title, doesn't it? The boss lady in it reminds me so much of the lady whose children I used to nanny for. I avoid my MIL as much as I can too. The trouble is, she says a lot of nasty things to me when Drew doesn't hear, and then he comes back and tells me she's kidding, when I know she isn't. I think she looks at me and sees "easy mark" since I tend to be pretty laid back about most things. The first phone conversation we ever had was her warning me that I should never tryto make lasagne for Drew, because there are some things that only a boy's mother can make "right" for him, and that I'll just be disappointed because he'll never like mine as much as he likes her. I'm so tempted to have lasagne for dinner when they show up Friday...only because I KNOW I'm a much better cook than she is (she really sucks!!!). Aren't I a little snot??? Oh well, thanks for letting my passive-aggressive self vent a little bit!
  • Jayne I say MAKE LASAGNA! DO IT then shove MILs Face in it
As for the IBS the !%%$!@^ docs havent called me back so i have absolutely no clue
but I am enjoying slimfast with soy milk lol
Laura I'm actually going out for drinks tonight 1 should do it I'm such a lightweight now we're celebrating one of my best friends scoring high on her MCATS
I'm trying to improve my mood we saw some really gross disturbing videos yesterday in my ethics class and I've been in a creeped out/foul mood since but I'm listening to U2 so hopefully things improve
  • morning ladies

Rough day today at work, trying to get caught up. I did go shopping this morning for fruit though so mission accomplished as far as that's concerned

I'm in the middle of the Mists of Avalon right now (i think that's the name). TNT did a miniseries based on it that I caught about half an hour of and was hooked. It's huge though and I've really slowed down on reading since I've become more sociable ... go figure, right.

But anyway did excellent eating yesterday and 41 minutes on the elliptical (including cooldown) so I feel good about that. With the Cubs game tonight though, my roommate and I are ordering pizza and planning on watching the game with neighbors (assuming it's not rained out) so something to look forward to and am very glad I did good yesterday eating-wise cuz it's not looking so good today.

Jayne - make the lasagna! She sounds like a nasty lady that I'm sorry you've got to deal with - you can take her!

Kier - hope you feel better - U2 always lifts my mood too

Laura - congrats on the 2.8!!

Ali - community theatre sounds like a great time

jen - hope your day goes better!
  • Angie that books a slow read but its so good!
I gotta go get ready for class
  • Laura: yup, I convinced him to go... I think he enjoyed the meal and all... I bought along an apple pie since we rarely ever have it... wish it were more points friendly though I was heavily into theatre when I was younger, and my best friend is doing it in Montreal now and loves it... It would just be something fun to do that I enjoy...

Jayne: I am sorry about the probs you have with your MIL... I hope the weekend works out...

Jen: I am sorry the pics didn't turn out to well... At least the Khakis fit!! Did you order any of the photos?

Kierie: I started it, but haven't had much opportunity to read it all that much yet... I liked the 4 other Harry Potter's though

    Take care!

    Ali
  • Jayne, my queen, make the LASAGNA!!!! I haven't had as many years of this as you so my stories are not as frightful but....I was told that "SHE" will be buying something for the house because her son won't be comfortable without something to make the house his (apparently, the fact that ALL HIS FURNITURE is moving in with him will not make the place feel like home to him).

    Bottoms up Kierie!

Angie - 41 minutes on the elliptical?!?!?! I couldn't even do 5! That is one tough machine.

Ali - I'm so glad he joined you. I bet your parents were pleased to have him. Apple pie....mmmm....

Girls - I am so excited - I am a dancing bananna in my cube at work! A dear friend just offered to come over Friday night to help me arrange furniture and pick out places to put pictures, pillows, throw rugs etc. I'm thrilled. I keep a clean house but am a clueless and horrid decorator. It will be so nice to have someone help me figure out how to fit CB's sectional into my tiny tiny living room.
  • Speaking of exciting news...I BOUGHT AN APARTMENT!!!

Very weird but it feels good. It's big with 2 bedrooms and a fireplace and a HUGE walk in closet in the bedroom (they've got a full sized freezer in it right now.) I'm still going over the minutes from the last 2 years strata meetings but it looks good and they've recently done over one million in repairs and upgrades. A friend who does interior design is coming to help me plan out a color scheme when I do a plumbing inspection. her mom lives across the hall (which I didn't know until after I bought) I would only move in January 15th or so because there are tenants in there right now who need 2 months notice. So I'm all freaky. Plus, the new job is a whole lot of the old job and my training is seriously lacking. Hopefully it will be figured out fine. Too excited to write much more now, I have to contact a notary. I'll check back in when I can.
