Do I qualify for maintenance yet?

  • I am not getting much direction from my WW leader. I am 5'7" and started WW at 209#, at my last weigh-in I was at 154#. My leader is very busy during meetings, but am I at a point for maintenance? Should she have mentioned this upon weigh in or do I need to bring it to her attention? I am going to be 40 next month, have 4 children and this is a fine weight for me-I fit into a size 8. What would you do? I will check back in on Monday.(that's also my next weigh in) Thanks!
  • Ideal,

Congrats on your loss. Make an appointment to meet with your leader at a time that is convienient for both of you. I think she and possibly a note from your doctor stating that you are at you "ideal" weight and let you go on maintenance.

Then again, Melissa will be able to give you the true scoop.

  • Tell your leader you want to declare your goal weight. You're already in the range so that won't be a problem and you shouldn't need a doctor's note unless the goal weight is over the WW weight range. She should count last week as the week you hit "goal" and this week would be Week 1 of maintenance.

    Congratulations on your success!
  • Thanks for your help! Last night at WW I lost another 1.8#, so at 152 I made it my goal and got the golden key. I am wearing it proudly around my thin neck...now what. Once again I got no direction on what maintenance means. Do I need to stay within 2# of this weight for six weeks, do I add two points to my range? I will read other posts on this site, but any help here will be greatly appreciated!
  • Congratulations!!!

It sounds like your leader is not on the ball at all...you should have gotten a booklet called, Going the Distance, which would explain maintenance. Maybe you could attend another meeting with a different leader and get the information. You have 6 weeks of maintenance and during that time you adjust your points up/down/stay the same depending on your WI. The goal is to maintain within 2# of your goal weight. It's a little tricky figuring out how many points you need to maintain. Generally what you do is add 4 points to your Target. Definitely get the book because there's a lot of info in there and it will help you during the next 6 weeks.
