  • I'm 3 months post op and doing wonderfully. I'm down from a size 24/26 to an 18/20 (I'm pretty much in the 18 anymore). On the way into work I have 2 scoops of Designer Whey Protein with water in lots of crushed ice (35 grams of protein and 180 calories). When I get to work around 9:30 or 10 I'll have some crackers with some low fat cottage cheese (13 gams of protein). For lunch it varys, today I'm going to have a Monte Cristo wrap from the mall, it has turkey, ham, cheese and some romain lettuce in a tortilla . I don't know the calories in that but I know its low fat and very good. I'm not usually hungry for dinner but will have a bite of whatever my sister has made for dinner. Normally its a chicken something since that's all her kids will eat. (She lives with me so it not like I'm mooching or anything!!!) LOL That's a pretty normal day for me, for snacks I'll eat pretzels and some peanut butter or I was eating fruit but I've cut that out and am trying to make better choices if I really need to snack at all. I've tried to increase my water, I really don't do well with that at all. I'm trying though. Have a great day everyone!
  • chris... ummm. there's no real polite tactful way to say this.. so please forgive me. would you consider dumping the crackers and tortilla and have a piece of fruit instead? the crackers and tortilla - just about any form of starchy carbs - have no nutritional value for you at the moment. you are not far enough postop to need them or to benefit from them in any way. you'd be better off having a few slices of pepper and cucumber with your cottage cheese than having the crackers. some of the folks in my support group snack on humus with veggie dippers.

ok. off the soapbox. here's what i've eaten and what i have planned. remember, i'm more than 18 months post op

    16 oz tea
    23 gram nectar protein

    1/2 oz cheese
    2 multigrain melba toast rounds
    deviled egg made with salsa

    decaf coffee

    iced tea

2 bites bagel with cream cheese
ok. that's what i've eaten. now for what i've packed. not sure i'll eat it all but here goes

coq au vin [chicken thigh cooked in wine with mushrooms and vegs]
    small spinach salad
1/2 c cottage cheese with a small spoonful of fruit-only preserves
1/2 c bean salad with feta cheese
a few rollups of thinly sliced turkey, thinly sliced buffalo chicken, thinly sliced roast beef all with a little cheese [like 1/3 of a paper thin slice]

maybe a pretzel rod or two.
  • Thanks Jiffypop!! the crackers that I've been eating are rice crackers from Trader Joes. In 37 crackers (which I only have maybe 5 of them) there are 120 calories, 0 sugars, and 3 grams of protein. I love peppers and the veggies but I've been afraid to eat them for fear they'll get stuck. I'll give them a try and see how it goes. It's really hard, even going to the support and nutrition classes to know what you should and shouldn't eat. Thanks again!
  • Thanks for the post. I two am going on soft foods come Sunday and was wondering what a normal day would be like. Grammy
