  • Inspired by boopchick's challenge last Summer, I now bring you the Spring to Summer Challenge, which runs from today, March 19th until the first day of Summer, June 20th, 2020. First day of spring is a great time to commit to a healthier lifestyle. And obesity is a risk factor in Covid-19, so by losing weight, you are helping protect yourself and your loved ones. If you are working from home, you have a lot of control over the times you eat and have lots of time to cook. The grocery stores had a rough week for packaged goods, but mine, at least, still had a lot of produce in stock. My fridge is stocked with more healthy food than usual. No excuses.

For me, it was nice to see that despite my recent gains, I'm still down 10 pounds from this same date last year. And I'm still down about 83 pounds overall. This is why long term tracking is important. We may not be seeing the gains this week (or season in my case), but it pays off in the long run. I'd very much like to get back to the 160s this season, which I saw at Halloween.

Whether you are looking to lose weight or maintain, all are welcome. Feel free to join in at any time.

Post your starting and goal weights and your weekly progress on your day of choice.

Feel free to join me again in the spreadsheet:SPRING to SUMMER Challenge
  • Lacerta thanks for doing this thread again!

I am being conservative with my goal this season. I would like to eat at my maintenance calories for a bit to try and help my immune system and just to have more energy, and then I will start to cut back down in calories and see how I do.

    Good luck!
  • KStrong: Welcome. I agree that maintaining after a huge loss is a great goal in and of itself. I didn't focus hard enough on it, but I'm proud to have only gained 15 pounds back from a 100 pound loss before I caught myself.

somedaysunny: Welcome back. I saw you say you are a nurse. Thank you for all that you and your coworkers are doing to keep us safe. I'm doing everything I can to not need your services. Stay sane and stay healthy. Now is not the time to push losing more. Just hang on to what you've done. And aren't you sooooo glad you've lost to basically the healthy weight range and lowered your susceptibility. Couldn't have chosen a better time to have decided to get healthy.

I've had a very good first few days of spring, eating-wise. I was down a pound today, despite weighing in 3 hours early (I got up early to go to the grocery store at opening), so I suspect I'm actually down a bit more than that. If so, I'm actually down for the first time in March. Despite weeks of trying, today is the first day I feel like I've actually turned the scale around.
  • KStrong: Thanks, It totally agree. I'd much rather have 18 pounds to relose than all 100 again. No question. And I keep reminding myself the same thing. When I started at 267, I said, if I can just get to the sub 200 range and stay there the rest of my life, I'd be content with that, and if I could get sub 180 and stay there, I'd be thrilled. I hadn't been under 190 in over 20 years, let alone 180. So I didn't stay under 180, but I did stay under 200 and I did stay "overweight" rather than obese, and I'm just about to be back under 180 again, hopefully to stay this time. So I stayed in the "content" range and didn't stray too far from the "thrilled" range. My ultimate goal is to get under 160 to be "healthy" and my dream goal is to get under 150, but those are long term stretch goals, that I'm realistic about, given that I'm 42 years old with Hypothyroid and PCOS. Those are great to continue to strive for a goal, but I'm not going to beat myself up if I just hang out in the 160s for the rest of my life.
  • A tad late to the game.. these last two weeks have been crazy where I live. Greatly lowered my weight loss expectations this time around, especially since I'm home bound with family so my "me time" is especially limited

    Good luck everyone!
  • Thank you Lacerta and KStrong

Looks like my cheating caught up with me! It'll be fine though, I'm on track now to maintain

  • Hello everyone; today is Friday weigh-in day.
I received an instant pot for Christmas and last Saturday I made beef stew. It was delicious but I used one of those packages of beef stew seasoning.
Well it must have been loaded with sodium or something. I didn't overeat last weekend - much - but by Monday morning my weigh went up 5 lb to 305 from 298.8.
So all week long I have been battling to try to get it back down to 298 again. This morning (Friday) I am at 300.8.
I will do better this weekend I am going to make a pot of lima beans.
I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

  • Hi everyone!
I'm joining this challenge to hopefully kickstart my diet again. I have been chasing the same 30 pounds up and down the scale for the past 10 years (I'm 24) and I want to get to my healthy weight. Currently I have at least 50 pounds to go.
The challenge this week has been Easter candy!! I love sweets and it's really tough for me to give them up.

  • Hello everyone; today is Friday weigh-in day.
Had a big woosh yesteday and today. Finally got rid of some of this excess water.
I have been waiting for this woosh for a week and a half.
Have been eating on plan all week.
I am not eating any bread or refined carbohydrates; trying to control my TyII diabetes.

  • Happy weight-in day! I started zumba this week and it's super fun. Kicking my butt though!

    Weigh in 4/17: 199 (+4lb)
    Total weight lost: 6 lb
    Start weight: 205
    Goal weight: 144

Eek! Weight gain! Well, I thought Zumba would cancel out ice cream and candy...apparently not! LOL
Back to work for me. Hope to report some losses next week.

  • After avoiding the scale for so long I finally got on and I'm very disappointing. I really haven't been trying but I didn't think it would be this bad. I think I want to try the whole 30 diet and see how that goes!
  • Hello everyone; today is my Friday weigh-in day.
I am not on track to make my 6/20 goal of 270 lb but at least I am moving downwards.
I should be well below 280 by then however.
Thank you KStrong for the words of encouragement!
