Best bread substitute? Either purchased or homemde w recipe pls

  • Hi all,
I've been on IP twice over 7 years and have done well with it but do have trouble keeping it off. The good news is that the regain was slow and I could have kept it in check, but just didn't. What is hardest for me is not having a really good bread. How do you cope with that long term? Do you have a good bread substitute you buy or make? Please provide specifics. Thank you very much.
  • To satisfy my "bread" cravings I would make "cookies" using either the Rice Cereal or Oatmeal packets. Combine with 1 egg white, small amount of water, baking powder - and bake. It's an IP recipe but I don't have the exact measurements and ingredients on hand -- but it's what I could remember off the top of my head. Good luck!
  • Schmidt's makes a bread called "647". It has 6g net carbs, 40 calories, 8 g fiber. I've seen it in whole grain, white and Italian, could come in other types. It looks like regular bread and satisfies the need for sandwich bread. It's not like a great French bread but I realize that is only a special treat for me going forward. Lots of regular grocery stores sell 647.
