My sickness is going to make me healthy!!!

  • For the last week, I have been suffering major pain in my abdomen. At first I thought it was gas, but by day 4, I knew better. I had been very good on my program, so I knew t wasn't what I was eating. The doc doesn't think it's gallbladder, but he won't rule it out. He named off many things that it could be and sent me home with acid reducing pills and an ulcer diet. The 1st one was for an acute ulcer which he had me on for 2 days...can you say brutal!

All I could eat were "white" foods. Eggs, refined cooked cereal, white toast with butter, cottage cheese, custard, vanilla ice cream, puddings (NO chocolate) jello (no fruit), steamed or boiled white rice, mashed potatoes, plain crackers, vanilla wafers & milk.

SO needless to say I did not junk out over the holiday. Now I am on the Chronic ulcer plan... which in a nuthsell is No fried foods, no chocolate, no pop, no processed foods. I have to eat 6 very small meals a day. This seems to be keeping the pain very mild. The pain that I think "bad" food may cause so far outweighs the tatse.

So I think God said, "Well Sandra, If you won't make you stay on your diet, I will."

  • You always crack me up.

Hope you're feeling better soon! (Right?....
  • Hope your enforced diet takes away your tummy pains (and some of your tummy too)
  • Ouch! Not exactly the way I'd want to lose weight, but pain is certainly a good motivator.

Hope your tummy feels better soon!
  • Sorry to hear it, Sandi, hope you're feeling better soon!
  • Sandi,

Hugs!! I hope you're feeling better!

I had an ulcer in college, so I know what the diet is like. I hated giving up tomatoes-I love Italian and Mexican food.

BUT the ulcer did heal within a few months, and I've never had trouble in the ten plus years since. I hope that makes you feel better.

    Take care,
    Sherry
  • I hope that the pain goes away permanently for you. I had to have my gallbladder out 4 years ago because I had gallstones really bad - the gallbladder attacks I used to get were the worst pain I have ever felt in my life.
  • Sandi,

So sorry to hear you're not feeling well. My daughter has the same problem, so I know how very painful it can be. I hope you're feeling better soon!! Take care of yourself!
  • Sandi - I hope you feel better soon, and I love your attitude about the whole thing - looking for the bright side!
  • oh good grief.. it's always something, isn't it??? but you have such a fabulous attitude.

so, now the BIG question: does the doc know why you have an ulcer and what's his plan for getting rid of it?????
