The best compliment...

  • Hey all!

I was just curious as to what has been the best compliment you've received since losing weight?

The best compliment I've received was not verbal. I ran in to someone who I haven't seen in a long time and the look on their face was priceless

It's depressing in a way though, because sometimes people look at you in shock like they never thought in a million years that you could be attractive.
  • My best compliments were long ago, but they were any nice words that came out of my girl friends' mouths. My man and other friends that were guys told me constantly that I looked good, but any time a girl said something.....I felt like "amazing" because it meant that she had to admit that I was looking better. I know this sounds stupid, but hearing kind words form your peers was so much better than anything some guy may say just to get in bed with you!
Plus my friends all needed to lose some weight so they knew how hard it was.
  • My favorite compliment was kind of back handed, but I loved it...you should have seen the hunk that said it!!! WOW!!!

Anyway, his girlfriend wanted to join Weight Watchers and she said they couldn't afford it right now, then she was telling him that I had joined and lost 55#, he looked at me and said..."If you can look like her, you go and I'll pay for it." It made me feel great!
  • CTagmire: I know what you mean about compliments from girls. Girls don't dole them out like guys do, so when you're given a compliment, it means something.

Idealperson: WHOAAA... now that's a great compliment! I bet it felt terrible to be that girl, but great to be you!
  • I think my fave compliment so far took place about a week ago when my trainer told me that someone else she was training listed as their goal : To look like (be fit and healthy like )Ashley. It made me cry...no one has ever said that they wished they looked like me. Also, last week when at the gym, I was doing chin-ups and a male body builder walked by and said " Damn". I had to do a double take--I had no idea he was talking to me.
  • All of them are so great! I love yours Idealperson!
  • The best compliment, well I've had a few that felt really good, from woman, yes it's that the truth, us ladies are the last ones to give up the nice words, how sad.

But my best one was 2 days ago, when I looked in the mirror and realized I looked great. I was all dressed up for a night out and I actually told myself I looked amazing, yes I was talking to myself (nothing new i'm afraid ) It felt really good to not have a fat person staring back at me for once. The nasty double chin is history! So that one is my best because although other woman are hard to get compliments out of, I'm even harder on myself. I am learning to be kinder though

    Tummy
  • I'd have to tell you that my best compliment happend about a few years ago when I had lost about 20 pounds.. It was from this guy who was like in his early 40's who stopped me in the Blockbuster parking lot and said, "I just had to tell you that you are one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen." At first I was kind of weirded out because he was a lot older then me, but later I actually really loved the compliment. I would have never guessed in a billion years that a complete stranger would say that to me.
  • Ok, I'm late on this--started back to school (elementary and graduate!!) and have been crazy!

The best compliment I have gotten so far has nothing to do with my physical body. My college roomies visited me this summer and at dinner one of them (the skinny minny!) said, " I just love this new Crystal...you are so confident and outgoing". Y-E-S!!!! I've been that quiet little doormat mouse for too long!! I am woman, hear me roar, lol!!
  • I have to share another one... at Weight Watchers last week I was talking to a lady about loosing weight and needing new clothes. Then my sister walked in, (she's 7 years younger and now a size 5) and I said "Now that my sister has lost 30 pounds I get all her hand-me-downs". This lady looks at me and says "You look smaller than her". Wow, that made my day. I did just exchange a size 10 pair of jeans for an 8-that was a great feeling!
My father in law also called me skinny this weekend!
    Have a great Wednesday all!
  • Idealperson...your's is great... I can't wait for a compliment that isn't from my husband or mother!! The Fater-In-Law is the best!! I have a skinny sister in law and they are always talking about how tiny she is... and she is, but I am only a size 10-12 not that big and I am expected to do anything more strenuous because she is "so tiny"... I can't wait until I lose 20 more pounds and get so I am just as tiny as her!!!!!!!
