Looking forward to the support.....

  • Hello All!
I am new to this website and forum, but certainly not new to dieting.
I have also been self conscious about my weight and actually used to be very obese. I lost a significant amount of weight and got down to the 'normal' BMI, but over the last couple of years have gained approx. 30 lbs.
I lost some in before my wedding and about 1 year later I am 12 lbs above my wedding weight.
My husband and I recently relocated from Connecticut to Georgia and I have been finding it very hard to lose the weight despite my efforts.
I work long days during the week with a commute that makes it hard to find the motivation to get into the gym before or after work.
I find it amazing how I can feel just as down about myself when I feel 'heavy' as I did when I was >100 lbs heavier than I am now.... I guess I still see myself as 'large'.
Anyway, I have tried many things over the years, but an online forum to air my thoughts, get useful advice and support is something new. I figured this could help keep me motivated when I get frustrated and feel like throwing in the towel.... it really helps to know I am not the the only one facing this struggle.
I have also suffered from anxiety and depression and am currently taking medication for it. Fortunately, I do not feel 'numb' or zombie-like on my medication but I know it impacts my approach to weight loss and how I feel about myself. I did notice there is a forum on this site for depression/anxiety, so that may help me put things in perspective.

Anyway - just wanted to get my first post out there and let you all know that I am right there with you and look forward to the support this forum has to offer!
  • raybabe!
I joined the forum to keep me motivated as well, and so far it has helped a lot. It has only been about 6 weeks, but it is the longest I've kept up dieting and exercising for weight loss.
I really like the challenges on here because I feel like I am being held accountable. Maybe look into chicks up for a challenge if that sounds like something that would help you.
Anywhere you post you will find lots of great people who are very supportive.
So, jump in and have fun!
  • Hi raybabe1202! Congrats on losing weight! This is a wonderful site for support! I'm sure the little weight you've regained, you'll have off again in no time here! My advice is to get involved. The more involved you are, the more you'll get out of it. People are very nice, so jump right in! Good luck!
