Portabello Mushroom Receipe???

  • Have any ideas?
I've picked up some great big portobello mushrooms and want to make a meal out of them..
    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Di
  • I don't have an actual recipe, but you could stuff them with a ricotta cheese/spinach mix (add spices, chopped onions, garlic etc). I guess you could bake or broil these.
  • There is one in the book but I don't have it here. I lent it to a friend. Maybe one of teh other chicks can give you the page number.
  • I was thinking the same thing... my Dad has my book. Sorry, Didi...
  • Portobello Pizza is on pg.211.

2BFIT1, your idea about adding ricotta sounds even better.

  • I just notice it is in PII.

    1tsp. x-v oil
    1 clove garlic
1 pck (6 oz) portobello mush. caps, cleaned
    pinch salt
    pinch freshly ground black pepper
12 oz mozz ch., sliced or shredded
    10 fresh basil leaves
2 fresh tomatoes, sliced, roastede, or grilled
    Oregano leaves (optional)

Do you think this matters, can we have it in PI?
  • Thanks....

It looks like it could be a Phase I receipe....

Not sure which one I'll use, but I'll let you know...

    You guys are the best!!!

  • You can actually use them as a meat subsitute in a sandwich or use them as the bread to make a sandwich (but cook them first).

I love them sauteed in butter w/garlic salt/powder/or fresh. You can mix them in just about anything, eggs, green salads, cold salads..etc.

    Enjoy.
