Eating out help!!!!

  • I just need suggestions on what you girls would do in my place...

I am going to Vegas for a work thing Friday night -Sunday noon... the breakfast and lunch on Saturday are catered in...and Friday and Saturday suppers are at 8pm and are at "hip" restaurants on the strip. We have to go out to the clubs until 1am but I think I can get out of drinking while there, but the eating out the whole time gets me. I don't want to worry about the food the whole time, but I don't want to come back having gained my weight back!! HELP!!
  • CHOICES, CHOICES, CHOICES
Sounds like a challenge, but I'm sure you're up for it! I'm glad you can control the drinking (walk around with a club soda and lemon slice and no one will be the wiser), but the eating will require you making very informed choices.

Any way of finding out in advance what the catered meals are? I would assume protein and veggies would make up part of the meal? All you have to do is ask for removal of any "starchy stuff" or sauces and you should be okay??

Can you find out what restaurants on the Strip you will be visiting? Or better yet do a search on vegas restaurants, get names, websites and if possible check out the menus. Most places will have chicken, fish or steak...veggies on the side and you're whistling!!!

If you don't have computer access you may wish to bring a small paperback carbohydrate counter booklet with you...and maybe check on some things before you go out to familiarize yourself with lower carb foods and veggies (I once ate one of those mini corn on the cobs at a restaurant figuring this tiny thing could barely have any carbs and later found out that it alone had about 5 carbs!!!).

I think you can do it! Stay focused and determined!

  • Thanks for the info. I do know the restaurants so I will go on the sites and look at a menu, at least I will be prepared for what they have!!!! For some reason I didn't think of that!!!

I am not a big drinker so that doesn't bother me even if everyone is having a drink!! Even in college I was the DD because I just don't care for the alcohol (and I work for a liquor broker and have a huge Wine collection

    Thanks Again!!!
