Whats the Deal ?

  • 1. Romaine Lettuce

    If you buy it in the bag chopped up, its 1 gm per cup BUT in Atkins website it says .4 gms per cup ? Fit day says 1 gm per cup.

    2. Blue Cheese Dressing

    Maries b/c jar says 0, Atkins says 2.3, Fitday says 2.0

    What are you supposed to do ?
  • For the dressing - it's just like anything else, depends on the brand as all the recipes are going to be different.

    For the lettuce, I suppose it could depend on how tightly you pack that cup.

    Also, while Atkins is very spicific with the .2's and .7's, most brands either round up or down - I almost never see anything .whatever on a food lable on a package.

    I go with what's on the package, with one exception - if it says <1, I count it as 1. This has worked for me so far.
  • Regarding the lettuce - I think you may have forgotten to deduct the fibre grams to get the net carbs?

    On Fitday on cup of shredded romaine 1.33 carbs with .952 grams of fibre. When you do the subtraction you get .378 or about .4 per one cup (which matches the Atkins count).

    As for the blue cheese dressing: I agree that you should at least count 1 carb as their serving size may actually be .4 or .5 carb grams so they have rounded down to zero!!!

    I'll count my lettuce as .4
    And the Salad dressing as 1.0

    I'd hate to do this and do it wrong yah know. Its just so frustrating. Sigh ~
