Thin4Life - Week of June 30, 2003

  • Good morning everyone!

The week is flying by at warp speed! Happy Canada Day! to our Canadian friends

Another busy weekend here...we have a picnic at my sister-in-law's for the 4th and then on Saturday we're having DS #1's graduation party. I'll be so glad once July is done! Vacation is looking good at the end of the month. We're planning a trip to Torono to catch a Blue Jays game and do some sight seeing. Should be relaxing.

The weather has been been nice--warm days and cool evenings...perfect summer weather in my opinion. The humidity is supposed to be back tomorrow. I'm taking the day off to get things ready for the graduation party so it's a really short week for me.

How's everyone else doing? Is everyone keeping up with their journaling? I have to confess that over the weekend (we were at a bowling tournament) my pages were blank...I'm hoping for a good weigh in today at my meeting. I'll post afterwards.
  • Good morning. Back to work after 4 glorious days off. The weather was perfect - warm, sunny days and cool nights. The murder mystery was a blast (DH was the killer!), and we got to see lots of other friends over the weekend too at BBQs, bonfires, etc. Now it's back to reality.

Melissa: I didn't journal over the weekend either, but I'm back on track today. Only four short weeks until vacation, and I'm determined to get rid of the excess pounds.
  • oy, no journalling in any form on the weekend.

should that be this weeks challenge?

happy belated canada day to Susan!

Any fun plans for the 4th?

  • Thanks for the Canada Day wishes guys. And have a happy 4th.

My challenge for the week will be portion control. That is one area that I have never quite conquered, even when I was in weight-loss mode four years ago. I just eat too much - have done so since I was a kid.

My sister and I got out for a run yesterday in one of the local parks. It felt so good to be out again, given that I did nothing last week because of my back. I see the physiotherapist this afternoon. I know he's going to give me a hard time about slacking off on the exercises. Oh well, I'll take my licks and see if I can do better in future.

What are your plans for the long weekend?
  • Hi, everyone.

Melissa, you're already hoping for the end of July--it's only the 3rd!

Susan, life is so confusing. We are told to exercise, then we have physical problems and we're told to back off on exercise, but we need to exercise...

Also, portions have always been my problem, too. My DH and I are really trying better in this area. We actually have leftovers sometimes!!

lala, I haven't done any journaling. I was doing well this week until I got a craving for a Dairy Queen Blizzard last night. Oh well.

I'm headed to the other side of the state this weekend to see family. It should be nice (and hot).

I'll also be taking another bird home. I just can't stand when a pet bird is not wanted. This poor thing was kept in a laundry room and had no interaction with people. I hope he's not too emotionally disturbed. This will make 6 birds at our house.

  • Hi everyone!

Domina -- what kind of birds do you have? You are a kind person to take in another mouth to feed. Have a great trip.

Susan - portion control is truly a problem. I am measuring out my cereal, pasta and other breads these days. But as a person who had a bowl of cheerios, a sweet potato and a part of a raspberry tart for dinner last night. I am questioning my resolve.

Good on ya for the run.

Melissa -- Is the grad party over? The weather here is amazing. Sunny and not too hot and the mornings have a great chill.

So, I'm off at lunch and then I'm on travel all next week. I may scoot to London on Saturday next for a three day trip to see my mom's best friend and her sister. Then again, I may not. Stay tuned.

No big plans for the 4th, work out, mulch, bbq, go to breakfast (egg beater omlette split with skinny friend) and fireworks here!

    happy days ladies! Enjoy them.

  • Birds
Lala, we have two Quakers, Quigley and Taco; two conures, Richard and Sunny (one's a Dusky and the other is a peach front); and one cockatiel, Fritzi. We are gaining another Quaker, Sweet Pea. The only bird we ever purchased was our cockatiel, our first bird. All others (some have died) were given to us by people who don't want them anymore.
