Hi-

I am curious if anyone likes a certain soap or body wash that is moisturizing, not drying? I notice that sodium laureth sulfate is in a lot of products, even ones that are more expensive and brand name. I've heard that is drying, I already have dry skin and eczema.

I am considering looking at Dove and Neutrogena, I don't know if their products are any better. I left a message for my dermatologist's office, maybe I'll ask my pharmacist too.

I'm interested in others suggestions and advice, thanks.

I've had good luck with Aveeno body wash

I second the Aveeno body wash. It has colloidal oatmeal which is hydrating and great for sensitive skin. You could also try soaking in their packets!

I buy "Soap and Glory" I think I have bought just about everything on the market. Everything left my face tight and dry. I buy it on Sephora.com and it really is not that much more expensive but the benefits. Wow. Their face wash only comes in a small tube but will last about a month is only 3.00. My face feels wonderful not the usual tightness, redness I usually get. I have been using them for about 3 months. They have a whole skin care line and it is really reasonable. Their body butter is just awesome. They have a variety of body scrubs and body washes too.

My dermatologist's office left a message saying that they highly recommend Dove. I have used it before and I liked it.

Aveeno is a great product too, I will keep that in mind. The Soap and Glory sounds interesting, I will check that out. I've seen olive oil soap in stores but I haven't tried it yet, thanks.

I find it amazing how many products are drying instead of moisturizing, weird. Maybe it is cheaper to make them that way?

I really like olive oil soap. It keeps my skin really hydrated. Doesn't have much scent, but it's nice!

Eucerine makes a cleansing oil. It doesn't have any detergents so it doesn't foam up and it smells a little weird - not on you, just in the bottle. It smells like what it is, no perfumes to hide anything. I've read you can add essential oils to make it a little smelly if you want that but I've never tried it. I use it in the winter because my skin gets terribly dry and itchy, even with our mild winters. I also like Dr. Bronners. It's not moisturizing, but it doesn't strip your skin either. I usually switch between these two.

I try to avoid anything with fragrance as it tends to burn and make the dryness worse.

Get away from the stuff in the most supermarkets or drug stores. Check out products by manufacturers like Kiss My Face or Burts Bees. SLS is bad enough but perfumes and unnecessary surfactants really play havoc with your skin.

You could try Castile Soap or Black Soap, both do not contain sulfate.

Also, maybe try rubbing raw melted cocoa or Shea butter on your skin after showering - seems to help keep my skin moisturized during the colder months.

I actually found olive oil soap to be drying. I highly recommend African black soap. It has Shea butter and other stuff in it.

I looked up Dove's ingredients and SLS is in Dove too, wow. After reading that, I think I will pick up one of the products suggested, maybe Aveeno or Burt's Bees. Thank you very much for all of the info.

If you like the smell, you can also use coconut oil. There are varieties that do not smell.

Personally, I use organic honey, goat's milk, or soy-based soaps. I occasionally make my own. I have really sensitive skin, so many store brands irritate me.

I find Aveeno products to be terrible and avoid them at all costs. Plus, JohnsonandJohnson don't need any more of my money.
