Breakfast Food

  • Hi all... I am new to this portion of the forum... I just started Atkins today and I just can't find any Breakfast food that is easy and I can grab on the go...even if I have to make it the night before.

I can not eat eggs or anything fatty in the morning or I will be sick for the rest of the day. I usually have cottage cheese as a snack throughout the day, same as string cheese. I just don't know what else I would be able to eat for breakfast...

    Thanks for the help!!!
  • hi golfergirl,

I can't eat anything when I first get up.. especially fatty stuff..

I take my breakfast to work, and eat it at coffeebreak... I take cottage cheese, with cinnamon in it ... then I have lunch, a snack in afternoon, and supper... seems to work.

Only other suggestion I can make is cheese.. maybe have the eggs boiled for snack so you can have the cheese for a breakfast?
  • Thank You...I will probably follow something like you because I have to eat something small in the morning, but not anything big. maybe I will keep on with my string cheese. I will have to try the cottage cheese with cinnamon...I usually do it with salt & pepper.

    Thanks!!
  • Golfergirl.. just watch the cinnamon.. it has carbs.. 1 per tsp I think.. I'd have to check..

Looks like we're heading to the same goal! Good luck *S
  • if the fat in the eggs bothers you, here's an idea. since the fat is ALL in the yolk, and the protein in the egg white, how about hard boiling a couple of eggs, and making deviled eggs with only half the yolk? you can add some salsa to make up the volume...

Or, i know some people who don't eat the yolk at all, and they make a kind of egg salad with just the whites, and some mustard or salsa and mayo.

low fat sausage patties might work as well.

just a couple of thoughts. and i'm sure there will be others! there are lots of smart, creative people around here..
  • You can also just scramble the whites of the eggs and make them very quickly and easy in the microwave. You just put the whites in a bowl, put them in the microwave for 1 minute, stir, and put them back in for 15 seconds. Perfect and no fat.

I also like the Hormel Pre-Cooked bacon. The pieces are small, and they don't have much fat on them. They also heat up quickly and easily in the microwave.
  • BREAKFAST IS SOMETIMES TOUGH!
I have been making a "mock danish" on mornings when I am rushed (it does include an egg tho, but mixed with other stuff). It only takes a couples of minutes in the microwave, and very yummy!
