Coconut Oil, green tea, and other "fat" burners.....

  • Hey guys

Forgive me if this has been brought up in the past - I did a search and could not find any threads on it.

I have read that adding this to your diet is a good thing - I know it is recommended in BRx, and I have read of people doing other weight loss routines using it also. I actually got my hands on some EVCO, and was wondering where in BFL it would fit, or if I should stay away from it.

I also have read much about the benefits of green tea supplements. Any ideas on those? I have thought of using these also.

Any other supplements people use and have success with?

    Thanks

    Robin
  • At the risk of sounding like a crotchety old person, I think that the only thing that fat burners burn is a hole in the pocket. and its not that I haven't spent the money myself....2 years ago "gugglebolic" or whatever it was called, was all the rage and I bought some and tried it (at the suggestion of a well respected member of L&S) and it didn't do anything for me. It's not that I haven't tried it, I've tried it all, starting with something called Ayds "appetite suppressant" when I was 12 (does anyone remember these? They were these little chocolate candies. I ate the whole box in one sitting) up to and including Ephedra. But I'm done now. I'm not spending another red cent on any of it.
  • OMG, Susan! You sure brought back memories! I did the exact same thing with Ayds when I was 12! And it didn't work! lol...
  • AYDS!! Gawd yes I tried those!!! Don't work tho...
  • Hi Robin!

There was one single piece of advice I got in my nutrition courses:

"If it works and is cheaper than the drugs being prescribed today then ALL doctors would be giving it away. If they aren't giving it away then it doesn't work"

IT is anything at all - green tea, chewing gum, heavenly smelling spirit oil, goose grease WHATEVER!

Coconut oil? Al lI know about recent research is that it is being used to lower the antiviaral load in AIDS/HIV patients - it is also being used by thyroid sufferers to increase metabolism and lose weight. Perhaps that is where this has come from. However research into its efficacy are new and scarce, so who know?

The best thing I can think of about green tea is that it may (MAY) have less caffeine or tannins in it than regular tea and therefore is not so dehydrating. But that is it! Sorry
  • Coconut oil is used by people on low carbs diets a lot for its good fat properties. I have heard CKDs rave about it before. Personally I haven't used it. I have heard others rave about Green tea as well but I can't stomach the taste.

Sorry I couldn't be much help!
