Can people get ill from allergy testing?
Eliz
What do you mean by ill? I have severe allergies and have had many tests over the years. I've experienced some localized itching and redness and puffiness at the site, but nothing that lasts.
well generalized stuff......
-pain in needle site and surrounding limb
-nausea, decreased appetite
-joint pain
I don't know, you should check with the doctor but it doesn't sound like a typical reaction to allergy testing. You should not have any ongoing symptoms at all from that.
I would think that you could if you were allergic to one (of the many, probably) susbstances that they tested for..I mean, isn't allergy testing where they inject allergens into your body?? I would report it to your doc so that it can be recorded if it is an allergy.
Just my cents..
Jenni, they inject a miniscule amount, if it reacts within 15 minutes they gauge the extent of the allergy. Then then administer the antidote. It is not something that shows up later. Substances are tested in groups - molds, mildew, dust mites, dog, cat, etc.
